It was a whole lot more than that, and not just Barney Frank, although I know you love him! ;) All of you conservatives like to ignore the elephants in the room, let me introduce you to Iraq and Afghanistan and the DoD! why don't you conservatives ever talk about our imperialism and the cost the to the USA! Everyone wants to protect the military! They feel to challenge its budget is unpatriotic, but it needs to be addressed! They want to take money from old people, not stop the military madness!

Another ex-military guy like Joe Miller! They don't like big government, unless it is the military! Go figure! One must remember there are two factions to the tea party! Those who have an agenda to get the country back on tract and then there are those angry white people (mostly men) and they hate everyone, doesn't matter what color you are, they just hate because they are old and angry. Mentalpause is what I like to call it!

Globalization involves the collaboration amongst the countries of the world to produce goods and services in the most efficient manner possible. But take a look at the standards of living in China/India/Indonesia etc... while certainly not close to being on par with the US, they have vastly expanded their middle classes (and to an extent upper classes).

The US is also capable of reverting back to higher levels of manufacturing should we need to do so. We have the resources here, we are simply choosing to outsource. It keeps the cost of goods down so that they are more affordable for the lower and middle class to buy.

You're foolish if you think the current globalization scheme doesn't involve the the post war military superiority of the u.s. plus constant invasions.

It's a lie that only unskilled professions are going overseas. They're most aggressive now in outsourcing IT or importing replacement indentured servants.

We cannot retool overnight in an emergency. Its better to always retain all industries, so we are not overly reliant.

Why don't you LIBERALS actually listen to what conservatives say? While there certainly are some who wish to protect the status quo, many (especially on this board) have talked about cutting the wasteful spending within defense.

Also, it is moronic to pretend they want 'to take money from old people'... unless you care to provide an example of such...

The Iraq and Afghanistan wars had little to do with the financial crisis we face. Also.... they have NOTHING to do with Imperialism. We have no desire to take over their countries and rule their lands.

well, she is correct in that it extends way beyond Barney Frank. While he did try to continually protect Fannie and Freddie, the problem with them was created by the repeal of Glass Steagall and the 'Fair Lending Act' which forced banks to provide loans to higher risk clientele. The Reps are every bit as much to blame for both of those as the Dems

Tell you what.... YOU show me where I stated it was ONLY unskilled professions and then we can discuss. Because I clearly stated those who produce goods AND services.

I did not state we could retool overnight. But we also wouldn't be CUT OFF overnight. The countries that supply us RELY on our buying their products. They would be slitting their own throats if they simply cut off shipping. Also, we have ample inventories in the things that MATTER for our survival. I think we will live if we can't get a supersized flat screen for a few months.

the U.S. has been instrumental in creating the New world order. We fund most of the U.N. and we as leader of the western world, we are highly influential in the world bank. ALl of this influence is from military might, and our victory in wwII. Our killing power. It's not all voluntary on the part of nations around the world, as you implied or said.

What careers should people retrain for if even computer programming jobs are going overseas? You seemmed to imply that only low skill jobs are being lost with you previous statements. That is just a lie. What should people retrain into?

You seem to think it doesn't matter if we lose productive capacity in many industries. I think it does. Because we cannot retool overnight, but we could be cut off overnight.

The standard of living is going down here as we speak, due to globalization.

Many feel that this is just global justice. Many are just greedy and infected with a traitorous brainwashedness concerning globalist stupidity.

We don't listen to conservatives because we've discovered that what they SAY and what they DO are almost always diametrically opposed to each other.

Y'all TALK a good game about cutting the military, but talk is all I've heard...and your talking points carry exactly as much weight as the "take money from the old people" line until some action is taken.

So, the THREE TRILLION we spent in Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with the financial crisis we're in now?

We aren't nation building? Then why'd we leave 50,000 troops in Iraq? We may not want to rule, but we sure like being close by to shove a cattle prod up the backside of any Iraqi who doesn't go along with what we say...
