FACT CHECK: Islam already lives near ground zero

It doesn't get seperated that way...

American Japanese would have been no more welcome to build a shrine or memeorial at Pearl Harbor!

Getting absurd does not a point make except that you are being absurd.

Krauthammer in his commentary made the point about what makes a location "hallowed".

What should the barrier be between churches and doctors slain by pro life nuts?

Presumably, we've moved beyond the bigotry of 1940s wartime america....or, at least liberals have.

Very telling that you empathisize, and are understanding of the discrimination japanese americans faced.

Personally, I wouldn't give a crap where japanese-americans wanted to build a shinto shrine if we were at war with the nation of japan. As americans, they have the same rights as me.

Is there a reason that you conflate the treatment of japanese-americans in the 1940s, with muslim-americans today in Manhattan? Why do you think it's "understandable" they would need to face the same bias, that japanese-americans faced in 1942? I don't understand why you are emphathizing with a historical analogy that was one of america's darkest chapters in civil rights.

Again you mix the fruit and fail at a comparison. Japanese American's have built memorials regarding their mistreatment of being put into internment camps...BUT NOT AT PEARL HARBOR where Japanese killed thousands!!!

Muslim Americans are invited and FREE to build mosques; Event Center's; or what the fuck ever, BUT NOT at Ground Zero!!!

Japanese Americans are not a religion.

And according to the First Amendment yes, they are free to build a Mosque at Ground Zero, every serious constitutional scolar knows that....

Again....why?

What is it about Muslim Americans? Are they not full Americans in some way?

It's not absurd. In the non-prejudiced mind, the analogies are perfect.

You're basically saying American Muslims are less than American, because -well, ya know, they've got that "Muslim thing."

It's ugly.

No one is saying that, and what is UGLY is that YOU keep inferring that is what is being said! You've not shown one single solitary quote, post, comment, editorial, article, speech, or sound byte, to indicate that ANYONE wants to deny Muslims the right to freedom of religion, or to say that American Muslims are not Americans. Not one damn thing do you have to back this assertion up, yet you and your left-wing cabal of nitwits, continue to throw that up in the air and hope it sticks! I think you all view this as some kind of sick opportunistic moment, to show people bigotry, but what you are doing is illustrating your OWN bigotry!

OH DAMN you got me on wording! What I intended to convey was "free in the hearts and minds of the majority of people" not legally...no one denies the legal right to build fucktard!

You're a nutjob, Dix; you hardly type a single post without directly saying or implying that Muslim Americans are something less than regular Americans. You've called them murderers, radicals, extremists, zealots and said many times that "they're the ones who attacked us!"

You've really lost your mind to deny that...

For the same reason alluded to about a thousand times now...it's location you thick headed dim witted dork!

So...why wouldn't Americans be able to build something at that specific location, as long as they have the permits? Why should they "reconsider the appropriateness?"

You've lost you rmind to deny it, but having said it is an indication you've lost your mind also...

Another question that has been asked and answered...about a thousand times.

Never in any coherent way that isn't completely bigoted.

Seriously - in the non-prejudiced mind, it's the same as saying men shouldn't build a business there, because the hijackers were men.

No difference. You can call it absurd & rationalize a difference, but there is no difference.

An American flag waves briskly in the breeze beside a Shinto shrine on the major freeway leading from Honolulu to Pearl Harbor. Just five miles away is the spot where Japanese planes dropped their bombs on the American fleet.

Seriously with any intelligent, rational, and sensitive mind, anyone can understand the underlying motives of the argument against this Mosque at this location.

The hijackers were Muslims who did what they did, murder 3000 American's, for their faith.

What was your intent, when you used the word "scolar"??

OH-NO!!!!!

Zippy gave me a negative rep!!!

What ever am I to do??

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Yes, the obvious underlying motive is that Republicans like to have a wedge issue they can use to divide the country during election cycles.

The planned Community Center is that wedge issue for the midterm elections.

5 miles away? Yeah, I think everyone opposed to the ground zero mosque could live with 5 miles away.

Pearl Harbor did not occur on private property or in a densely populated area. There are Shinto shrines relatively near as well as many other items of Japanese American culture.

Japanese Americans have as much right to use the area as anyone else and racist mfers like you can go fuck yourselves.

That's BS. It was politics.

If I go destroy a neighborhood, and scream out "I do this in the name of Judaism!", would you oppose a Jewish business in or near whatever they rebuilt there?

Oh wow how fucking surprising the empty headed dorkpuss pulls the race card from his deck of specious cards!

Again fuckwad, no one is objecting to the erection of a mosque or event center...only the location in this instance.

Assholes like you make impotent the term racist.
