Should STY get a machine gun?

this was, and is, the price of freedom that the founders envisioned. they left it up to us, as we the people, to police our own. as you are fond of saying, your right to swing your fist ends right before my nose. in other words, you consider your rights more important than anyone elses. we call this elitism.

Agreed. Most of our freedoms have serious and dangerous risks if taken too far. But with other freedoms, we prosecute those who step too far and infringe on the rights of others.

The 2nd Amendment is one of the few areas of our freedom in which liberals demand that we remove all risk and guarantee their safety.

Criminals will have lots of freedom if they have no fear of bring caught. Would you advocate weapons that leave behind no evidence?

The criminals already have the weapons. Automatic weapons are used by gang members and other thugs regularly.

Why would the criminals not fear getting caught? If owning the gun is legal, they are not criminals. If they use it to commit a crime, they can be caught and prosecuted as always.

For example?

I realize that you may not be familiar with criminality, but I could use my own handgun to kill someone and nobody would be able to tell once I got done 'modifying' my pin and barrel. a small file to the inside of the barrel would change the ballistics identification to the point of being inconclusive for a match. same with the pin.

so now, your point?

But you'd leave a body, which is evidence.

It seems to me that 357MagSM is all too willing to trust the gov't with these weapons, but not the citizens.

personally, they should never be made at all, but I damn sure don't want them to just be made for law enforcement and military alone. If the government has them, so should we.
What do you think will happen if they do? Do you think the population will start to decrease at a rapid rate? Do you think folks will have more freedom, or less?

I don't want to turn this in to a cop bashing thread, but there will be unexplained disappearances no matter who has them. Again, do you prefer them to be just government issued weapons?

Cops can be fitted with GPS transponders as terms of their certification of these weapons, so yes.

Of course the cops would always wear their GPS transponders and would never use the weapon in any way except by the book.

And our gov't would never use technology in any way except the most noble.

:palm:
