Do you know how utterly stupid what you wrote sounds? One and done? How idiotic do you have to be to think that once you prove--sort of--that you're eligible to vote and get registered, that there is no need for you to ever prove who you are while voting again?
It's like saying once you prove who you are to open a bank account you never have to prove who you are again to access it. Then, idiotically claiming that 'No, no one might try and use your account. After all, that'd be illegal...' That is EXACTLY an analogy to what you are claiming works and should be used in voting.
The drivel the Brennan Center wrote is just that. For example they pen this bullshit:
While some restrictive voting policies fall disproportionately on potential voters, that’s not true of the SAVE Act. In 2023, we surveyed American citizens to determine who has ready access to their citizenship documents (meaning they would be able to produce them within 24 hours if necessary). According to that survey, roughly 64 percent of respondents who lack easy access to their citizenship documents are registered to vote, and most of them (60 percent) reported that they are “sure” they voted in the 2020 election. (For these numbers, we excluded our respondents who were under 18 at the time of the 2020 election.) Put differently, there are about 12 million American citizens who cast a ballot in 2020 but who would be functionally unable to register to vote if the SAVE Act were passed.
The SAVE act requires that you make a one-time effort to produce 'citizenship documents' (a birth certificate, passport, etc.) to register to vote and prove citizenship. This doesn't have a "24 hour" time limit on it as the Brennan Center puts. That added, beyond the SAVE Act requirements, makes their survey asinine.
After registering, you need only produce a valid ID of some sort, like your driver's license or state issued ID card, to vote. That is hardly a burden and I'm sure that far more than 64% of Americans could produce one of those two items within under a minute if asked to.
That's how stupid that "think tank's" position is.

How hard is it to produce one of those things ONE TIME to register to vote. You need to produce one of those things to get a REAL ID now. If you don't have a Real ID, try flying somewhere. It's a $45 fee every time you go through a TSA security screening if you don't have one. How's that for limiting your travel?
So, your claim is utter bullshit.
Considering people still show up to fly without a real ID challenges your opinion, and what you are ignoring is that Voter ID fraud is nearly nonexistent, documented fact, you are going to potentially disenfranchise voters over nothing
Besides, obtaining passports takes time, as does having to reproduce a birth certificate, god forbid the voter who waits till September to start the process, he ain’t voting. And again, for what?

You don't need a passport. A birth certificate, assuming again you are stupid and lost yours, is something you can get from the state you were born in. You have plenty of time as elections are only held every few months at most.
On the other hand, if you procrastinate on the process, that's on YOU not me. Again, your being a retard is not MY problem. Too bad for you if you can't take even the smallest amount of personal responsibility in your life to do what you have to do.
It’s not as simple as “showing to vote and bringing ID,” it has to be proof of citizenship, and you keep ignoring the fact that Voter ID fraud is minuscule, proven fact, and not worth the time, energy, costs, and possibility of disenfranchising existing voters
Few have their actual birth certificate and they are not as easy to obtain as you think, and God forbid if you move or get married inbetween registering and voting, good chance you aren’t voting

Right now, many states, mostly blue ones, don't require proof of anything to register to vote.
Because things change and that should be happening to keep them current.
