I recognize that it will be difficult to get people to stop killing their children, but it will happen sooner or later.....just look, they're already upset about killing whales.....how long to you think it will take them to afford the same rights to humans......
I am not a Democrat, nor is it very useful to describe my libertarian views as being on the left in the current political climate.
I see little reason to believe you are doing anything but projecting. I would prefer we reduced the influence of the state from these things, but I don't see any brainwashing on the left's part, except, maybe, when it comes to economics.

Most Americans don't recognize the characterization of fetuses as children. That's why we have different names for different stages: zygote, fetus, infant; acorn, sapling, tree, etc.
They see it as "charged" language from zealots on the right. It will never be the mainstream.

As to what American's recognize? Check out a doctor's office brochure. At every stage of developement the brochure proclaims "your baby's" developement with pictures of the zygote and fetal stages.
The words used to describe do not proclaim anything other than developemental stages. Science proclaims its humanity through all of them..

Politically, because women are not really a minority. They will not let you. The same can be said about a fertilized chicken egg or an acorn; a developmental stage. Due to living in a world governed by "time" everything develops but it's not what it will become until it does develop, assuming it does develop.
As Onceler explained that's why we have different words for different stages. It's just as absurd to call a zygote a human being as it is to say a pile of lumber is a house.
Who's more human, a sexually mature female usually being an adult, or a fertilized egg?
