Trump Approved National Guard Shooting Suspect’s Asylum​





The Afghan man alleged to have shot two National Guardsmen near the White House had his asylum approved by the Trump administration earlier this year, according to reports.

The suspect has been identified by multiple law enforcement sources and media outlets as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal. According to CNN, fingerprints matched a man of that name who fled to the U.S. during the Taliban takeover of his homeland in 2021.

Lakanwal, the outlet reported, had “applied for asylum in 2024, and it was granted by the Trump administration in April 2025.”

The problem it appears is that the Biden administration allowed masses of Afghans into the US during and immediately following his complete debacle in withdrawing from that nation. The sheer number of persons admitted by the Biden administration was such that proper vetting could not be done on them and any that was done was superficial at best.

This allowed bad actors and potential terrorists to slip in with refugees. The bureaucracy and current administration, unfortunately, took the previous one at its word that vetting had occurred. Now we're seeing the results of that in what is clearly a terrorist attack on NG personnel in our nation's capital.

Whether this POS was a lone wolf or part of some larger network isn't the primary issue here. It is he got in because the Biden administration was sloppy--either by design or incompetence--and that was exploited by foreign nationals to gain access to the US to commit crimes or terrorist acts.
