Why is BP taking all the blame?

Alls I know is it's got nothing to do with the Jones Act.
Alls I know is that it will take permission to get them working, and they aren't. According to the state department report, the only efforts that they've allowed have to do with purchases of booms...

I can understand rejecting dispersant agents if they would cause issues, but skimmers need to start running now, instead they sit at their home ports in most cases, not even on the way...

Can you tell me which law is in the way? If it isn't the Jones Act, that is the one that needs to be waived, and right now.

Well, say the above instead of repeating some bullshit you heard about the Jones Act. It's a credibility thing. Some might think you are full of bullshit talking points you heard on FOXNews or repeated by some other idiot that heard it on FOXNews.

If I were to hazard a guess, the reason why these things are under consideration has to do with the last column on the page.

Edit to respond to your edit: Why do you assume there is a law that is in the way as opposed to say, money?

Because of the real fact that they must seek permission from the State Department to begin to work.

Even skimmers that sucked and only removed 50% of the oil would be doing better than nothing at all. We need to do better with this, and this Administration is reaching for the red tape rather than the scissors.

I don't know that they need permission from the State Department necessarily. They need to be retained by somebody in order to be paid for whatever work they are going to perform, but I don't think it necessarily has to be the State Department.

Even still, I don't understand why you think there is some law that just needs waiving for this stuff to be put to use.

You just kind of make this stuff up as you go along, don't you? Before it was the Jones Act. Now it is State Department permission that you dreamed up and the ever popular to rail against "red tape."

Maybe it's just the green that is the problem and rather than accepting offers from other nations BP is contracting with private parties to perform the work. Maybe?

According to the chart, they must get approval first. BP is paying for the cleanup, if they didn't need approval then BP could hire them without that approval.

Rubbish, it is very real. It is their own chart. I still believe that factcheck is wrong and that the Jones act is prohibiting at least some, if not all of these from working. If you note all that were approved were simply a purchase of a product, not a working ship.

The reality is, we'd be better off with these ships skimming out some of the oil and the awaiting of government approval is holding this back.

However, if it isn't the Jones Act then please, cut the rest of the fricking tape that's stopping these people from helping clean this mess up. We need as much of that oil out of the water as possible before it hits the shores.

My central point is that this red tape is harming us, and this administration shows no urge to cut any of it.

Obviously, you believe a lot of stupid shit that isn't true.

Your central assumption is that red tape is the problem, which you just kind of made up out of thin air. You central point is that more resources out to be utilized and should have been utilized a long time ago, which is a good point.

No, the chart doesn't say that at all. Stop making stuff up. It's tiresome.
The chart does say it. Those that are "approved" say so, those that aren't are "awaiting approval"... It's just inane that we have to constantly go through deliberate stupidity because you are desperate to apologize for somebody you've put on a fricking pedestal. This Administration has absolutely sucked at the response to this catastrophe.

Rubbish. I used direct evidence, to which I linked, explained why and showed what I am talking about. We don't have any foreign skimmers working, according to the State Department they all await approval, every one of them.

You can't even fucking read. The chart says nothing about "permission," "approved" or "awaiting approval." Instead it states whether offered assistance has been accepted, under consideration or declined.

I'm not putting anyone on anything. I'm merely calling out your unsubstantiated bullshit. You dislike Obama. I get it. That doesn't mean you can just make shit up to substantiate your dislike.

Give it the frick up...

There would be no need to seek government approval if what you pretend is true actually was true.

You continued to make shit up. Even when you link to things you just make shit up about what the linked information says. It's nothing but bullshit from your camp.

Even in this very post you just make shit up. Skimmers from Mexico, the Netherlands and Norway have been accepted (sans Jones Act waivers mind you) in addition to BP directly sourcing foreign skimmers. Just stop making shit up.

You basic point is a good one. The rest is garbage.

Ah... I did miss that. Three were accepted.

Anyway, the chart says what I've been pointing out. The government is dragging their feet on approval of something as simple as skimmers, whether they call it "accepted" and "under consideration" doesn't change that. It's stupid to play word games like this Nigel, the reality is this Administration has sucked at least as much as the previous administration in crisis response. All we can be thankful for is it wasn't a flooded city this time.

And I still believe that the Jones Act hasn't been waived because the Obama Administration is sucking up to the unions... We need cleaners within 3 miles of the shore as much as we need them further out.

Yeah, rolleyes, Jones Act Johnny. Don't get upset because I called your bullshit.
Rubbish, all you've done is pointed out that they used "accepted" rather than "approved"... Quit being so disingenuous. It's absurd to argue that way, it's flat ridiculous to ignore evidence because you don't like how I say something.

Piss off, Damo. You've been wrong about pretty much everything in this thread and you're flailing. You just make shit up as you go along because it fits what you feel.

Again with the fucking Jones Act. You're unbelievable.
