The battle over Obamacare subsidies that led to the government shutdown is shining a light on corruption in the insurance industry.

Wait until you see what happens when insurance companies are out of business.

Remember this conversation.

Bullshit. Medicare is a required coverage.
I still pay for VA, Medicaid, and ObamaCare costs even though I don't use them.

Yes it does.

You will find it's pretty useless for that! You had better read your policy again.

You had better read your policy again. There are always a lot exclusions.

TANSTAAFL. Subsidies aren't free,

The solution is black and white. Get government out of health insurance and stop meddling with healthcare itself.
This isn't about MEDICARE, it's about Obamacare, and no there is no mandate to buy Obamacare anymore. That is false.

I'm very familiar with my policy and know what is covered and what's excluded. It is a legal contract.

I'll put you down as another advocate for Single Payer. You must be a Mamdani fan.

"She". @Life is Golden is a woman. She may be frightened; I don't know, but it's illogical to pretend that she's never experienced life without a safety net.
Based on the latest data (primarily from 2021–2023, with projections to 2025 - per WHO's 2023 UHC Global Monitoring Report. This figure is based on the UHC Service Coverage Index (SCI), which measures access to 16 essential services. Global SCI stagnated at ~68/100 from 2015–2021, with low-income countries averaging ~46/100).

If the data is even close to accurate, approximately ~4 billion people don't have employer-paid or private health insurance or government funded medical services. This estimate includes those without any insurance-like mechanisms (public or private).
The correct English use is the male gender if the gender is unknown. Out of tradition, we refer to some objects as 'she', such as ships, aircraft, or even cars.

They all have access to government funded healthcare.

Doctors didn't all become rich until Medicare came along and now they use it as their private piggy banks and pig trough. Same with Big Pharma. Now getting a medical degree is considered an entitlement program. Used to be only highly specialized surgeons got wealthy from medical practices, and even small towns could support a GP doctor or two in middle class comfort. No more.

People didn't just "pay cash" before health insurance was invented. Scroll up and read.

My grandparents paid doctor bills with eggs, produce, and beef cattle when they didn't have cash. OF course if they needed surgery, they had to travel 120 miles to the big city hospital and negotiate a payment schedule if they couldn't swing the bill all at once.

Medicare pays a pittance to doctors. You are clueless. Doctors should be paid well. It isn't a dead end govt job and never should be.
