mccrystal has stuck his cock in a wringer by criticizing bho publicly regarding his leadership regarding afghanistan

mccrystal has been called to the wh to explain his actions

i think mccrystal's job has come to an end

Gen. McCrystal may just be running for President in a couple years, eh?

after showing his intemperance and lack of political skill i hope not

besides, we have a similar problem in afghanistan as we had in viet nam, a government that is corrupt and and not trusted by the population at large

we need a political victory in afghanistan supported by the military to prevent insurgents from destabilizing the place

Maybe they will have a beer summit, take him to play a few rounds of golf, and then Gen. McCrystal can get down to informing der leader that he is not even qualified to work a lemonade stand, let alone be president.

never do that to your boss unless you planned on resigning anyway and even then it is likely a bad idea

There is a framework here to build it on, with the newly discovered mineral riches. At this point, handing it over to the Taliban would be extremely stupid.

would it be worth the loss of life of our troops and who would profit from our losses and expenses

Only if you don't peer into the future and wonder what the people who actively supported Al Qaeda might do with those incredible wealth of minerals after they got the cold hard cash could you possibly ignore the danger in allowing the Taliban to retain control of that territory.

And hopefully the people of Afghanistan would profit. The Afghanis aren't bad people, they're just in an untenable situation with armed "warlords" willing to enforce Sharia law, which would gain control again in our departure. It would be immoral to leave those people in those straights.

fear monger. You're just sad. To protect ourselves from terrorism we should should stop allowing them to come into our nation. Oh, but that's radical.

there may be a court martial in his future - do you think that might clip his wings a bit?

remember truman and mccarthur

MacArthur was deliberately trying to undermine Truman, while McCrystal made some statements to a douchebag reporter. Truman did everything he could to diss Truman, from advocating extreme policies, to keeping Truman waiting 2 hours at the airport, not bothering to salute him, and continuing to act poorly after told not to. McCrystal has done one thing for which he will be reprimanded, and then he will hopefully go back to doing his job.

Also, Truman deliberately, and in a sober state of mind, wrote a letter the the Congressional Republicans, criticizing Truman, and with the expectation that it would be read to the whole Congress. McCrystal wrote nothing, was out drinking with his friends and colleagues, and was interviewed with no guarantee that any article would come of it. Again, the reporter was also a douchebag who obviously doesn't like the general.

the interview was setup by mcchrystals's press aide

this is not the first time that mccrystal dissed bho nor the second but the third time

no...if anything, it would be contempt under art 88...but i don't believe it rises to that level...not even close

see my response under bho/mcchrystal

military insubordination during a war can be a cause for a court martial
