To Hell With Charlie Kirk

Hate to break it to you but they DID. The Jerusalem Church disagreed quite strongly with Paul. They fought it out.

Here's a question for you: why would the man who never saw Jesus in the flesh have more say in how the religion formed than the people who walked with Christ in the flesh in real life?
Funny how little the believers actually know about their own religion.

Bart Ehrman has stated that nothing creates an atheist better than actually STUDYING the Bible versus merely READING it.

I didn’t say Paul lied.

Unfortunately Cypress will continue to misrepresent everything you say. It's how he deals with arguments he cannot address sufficiently. He creates a cartoon version with lots of misrepresentation and then debates you (and insults you) based on that.

He actually said almost nothing about Jesus himself.

I find it fascinating that Cy didn't seem to know that the Jerusalem Church actually fought against Paul's version of the faith. And it is interesting even moreso to realize Paul somehow came out on top in that debate.

Paul, who never so much as met Jesus in the flesh, somehow "won" in a debate against those who walked and talked and lived with Jesus during his ministry.

I actually prefer Bart Ehrmann's thought experiment. Many people have visions of the recently deceased, my mom thought she saw her mom at the foot of her bed just a couple days after she died. It's common for people to see things which aren't real and assume they are. No one except Cy has suggested "lies" be the only obvious answer as an alternative.

Cy likes to treat the accounts in the Gospels (which differ) as if Christ physically did come out of the tomb. As I understand his theory it is that Christ was just "stunned" or "knocked" out and survived the crucifixion and that's why he appears to have come back from the dead. Ironically despite accusing everyone of suggesting the apostles were all liars he won't comment on Jesus just slinking off into the shadows of history.

Yes, I do. Sorry to upset you so much, domer76. Your irrational hatred of Christianity is a curiosity to me, but discussing it only seems to anger you. Sad.

Nice backpedal. Before you created life and now you only helped. Got it.

MAGAts, like you, are emotional hot messes. Yes, like you, they lie a lot. The fact you think impregnating a woman is the same as creating life on a barren planet is odd, but expected from someone who is more emotional than logical.
Naw, nothing on this forum is so important as to upset me.

What IS a little irritating is the incompetence of some in comprehending simple English and twisting words into something never said. You seem to be a master of that. Is it intentional or are you just stupid?

Yeah, on that creating life, it takes 2 to tango. Your parents never had that talk with you, did they?

Now, I encourage you to quit your fucking distortion of my words. I try to keep them simple for people just like you, but it appears in vain.

We can agree to disagree on that point. Calm, cool and collected people don't become angry and start slinging names and lies against people who disagree with them.

QED

The fact you think you create life is precious.

QED on your anger.

Yeah, the “in shock” theory was hilarious.

What these fucks don’t seem to know or understand is that early Christianity was a fucking chaotic mess for several centuries. There was no consensus on anything. They seem ignorant of the fact that Christian dogma came down to one thing - a popular vote. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Even prior to their messiah getting killed, they won’t admit their monotheistic god was merely the final product of which of the polytheistic gods won out. Yahweh was a minor storm god in the pantheon of gods, finally working his way to the top of the heap, where he was top dog, finally evolving into the only dog.

That is, until they had to invent the Trinity bullshit after they invented the divinity of Jesus bullshit. One problem to fix after another.

Dude, if you’re fucking dense, I’m going to let you know. If you twist my straight forward words, you’re either dense or a liar. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and go with dense.

What's the lie? The fact you truly believe life begins with you? That you think the Universe magically popped into existence for no rhyme or reason? That you know there is no god, no afterlife and nothing beyond mortal death?

Has it ever occured to anybody that Kirks family hasn't been in the headlines, wasn't at the service in AZ and have yet to speak out in favor of their son and his so called Christian values????????Organized by Turning Point USA, the group Charlie Kirk founded, the event was the organization's first since Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk, was announced as the new CEO. While many big names spoke at the event, no other member of Kirk's family, other than Erika Kirk, spoke appeared. GUESS THEY WERE TOO BUSY GRIEVING FOR REAL THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE.

.“Oh fuck! He got himself killed! What do we do now?”
“Wait! I have an idea! He can still be the Messiah if he returned from the dead!”
“Yeah! THAT’S the ticket!
So now you have boomeranged back to saying the apostles concocted and fabricated their claim about the resurrection, despite previously denying that is the claim you are making.

That's illogical.

First, it doesn't square with a First century Jewish historical context. No Jew ever expected a single person to resurrect. At most there might be a general resurrection at the end of time. And the Sadducces didn't even believe that.

Many other Jewish apocalyptic prophets were executed around the first century. In every case, their followers just dispersed, or tried to find a new leader. You're asking me to believe Jesus and his followers were a totally unique experience in first century Judaism, an experience that cuts against the grain of historical context.

What did the apostles have to gain by lying? They didn't acquire money, power, or women. They faced persecution, beatings, and sometimes execution.

Nobody dies to protect something they actually know is a lie. You are asking me to believe Peter, Paul, James, etc. allowed themselves to be beaten, stoned, and executed for a concocted story they knowingly fabricated out of whole cloth

I looked into that when discussing the memorial service. They are very private people. I am too for that matter and dislike being on the news.

So you are not really an agnostic!
I've repeatedly said there probably is no label that really fits me.

I don't have enough faith to be an atheist, but I am also skeptical of many of the claims of Christianity, Islam, Judaism.

agnostic is the closet label I can find at this point.

Yep, you’re fucking dense, all right. See how generous I am?

He’s fading away already

He was absolutely being serious and no, he wasn't "just indulging in talk show banter" anymore than trump was just indulging in "locker room talk" when he boasted about grabbing women by the p*ssy.

Kirk was an obvious right-wing fascist Nazi wannabe a-hole who probably had visions of being the leader of a new third Reich.

Or the new fourth Reich I would guess.
he said groupies let you grab them by the pussy.

this is just a fact about groupies.

Resurrection is a scientific impossibility, dude. We can start with that.

Messiahs aren’t supposed to die. When their’s did, something had to give, didn’t it? Hysteria does funny things to one’s mind. Four gospels. Four different resurrection stories. SOMEBODY (or everybody) got it wrong.

I don’t know why the entire thing is so difficult for you to accept.

Atheism is the lack of faith. Carlin knew how ridiculous religion is.

All of us base many/most of our beliefs on faith.

Mathematics is the only realm of knowledge where proof is possible.

The only question is whether it's blind faith, or faith based on evidence and inference

Science operates on several tenets of faith. That the universe is rationally intelligible, and that it operates on universal principles.

Neither of those beliefs/assumptions have even been proven to be true. They are just starting assumptions. And outside of physics, I don't think we have ever found any universal mathematical laws of nature.
