This is actually a fascinating thought experiment. All the major economic data points such as GDP, jobs, unemployment, and retail sales are publicly reported by agencies. That information isn’t just important for government, it’s critical for markets too.I don't believe Biden had enough info from the trump people to actually know it would be too much or not enough.
If an administration could hide that data, it would shake world markets and dominate headlines. What Trump’s team likely slowed down was the handoff of operational stuff, but that’s not the same as hiding data.
And if you imagine a world where that data could be withheld, why would anyone push a $1.9 trillion stimulus without waiting for the full picture? It doesn’t add up.
