Prices were lower under Biden!

I don't believe Biden had enough info from the trump people to actually know it would be too much or not enough.
This is actually a fascinating thought experiment. All the major economic data points such as GDP, jobs, unemployment, and retail sales are publicly reported by agencies. That information isn’t just important for government, it’s critical for markets too.

If an administration could hide that data, it would shake world markets and dominate headlines. What Trump’s team likely slowed down was the handoff of operational stuff, but that’s not the same as hiding data.

And if you imagine a world where that data could be withheld, why would anyone push a $1.9 trillion stimulus without waiting for the full picture? It doesn’t add up.

Oh Trump is trying he is going to stop reporting on hunger . I guess if you don't see it or know about it it will just be gone.

That’s a different issue. Decisions about whether to report on hunger surveys don’t change the fact that core economic data like GDP, jobs, and inflation are published independently and watched worldwide. Those are not numbers a president can just hide.

Trump is trying to.

We can end the conversation, but what you’re claiming would have shaken the world. I’m still intrigued by the idea that our government would pass a $1.9 trillion stimulus essentially blind.
Well I still think Trump could and should have let his people give the new incoming admin. the info they needed and He didn't because he was being a big cry baby.

Fair enough, you won’t get any argument from me on that. As Americans we should want every president to help the next administration get settled.

But that’s very different from what you were claiming about economic data and the $1.9 trillion stimulus.

Search Assist

“Yes, Trump's $2.2 trillion stimulus, part of the CARES Act, is believed to have contributed to overheating the economy, which in turn fueled inflation. While it provided significant immediate relief, it also led to rising prices that outpaced wage growth for many Americans. Wikipedia 538

Republicans blame Biden, but Trump’s CARES ACT also fueled inflation.

There’s a reason kids don’t use Search Assist when they use AI for help. It just pulls information without context.

The CARES Act was passed in March 2020 when the government shut the economy down. That act didn’t cause inflation.

If you want to blame Trump, look at the second 2020 stimulus. It’s fair to argue the economy was already on its way to recovery and the extra spending wasn’t necessary.

But if you take that stance, how do you then justify the 2021 $1.9 trillion stimulus?

Since the first half of 2021, U.S. inflation has increasingly outpaced inflation in other developed countries,” the analysis says. “Estimates suggest that fiscal support measures designed to counteract the severity of the pandemic’s economic effect may have contributed to this divergence by raising inflation about 3 percentage points by the end of 2021.

COVID Stimulus Spending Played 'Sizable Role' in Inflation

Biden’s American Rescue Plan worsened inflation.

All that government borrowing and spending contributed. Biden piled on a significant amount of it. But Trump isn't blameless either.

Is anyone else going out and finding places scary dead....devoid of customers?

Me Thinks the economy might be way worse than the so-called experts are claiming.

Are you taking about what you see in your neighborhood? Traveling the country?

I see people out but that’s around me. I can’t speak for other parts of the state or the country.

I mean I am hearing that Vegas is empty, Hawaii is empty, restaurants are not doing well......I was just out today for dinner and a movie and everything to include traffic was dead.

Today might be especially bad because of the NFL and the Kirk special I dont know but what I saw today scared me.

Vegas is pricey. They aren’t doing themselves any favors in that regard.

My understanding about Hawaii is tourism has been down post the Maui fires and that locals have actually been pushing back against over tourism. Makes no sense to me considering how much they depend on it but their choice.

I don't know about Hawaii, but Vegas is losing business massively as it has gone from being primarily casinos with reasonably cheap hotels and buffets to being more of a Disneyland-like resort with everything massively overpriced and unaffordable. Casinos are becoming a secondary business to resort style entertainment venues.

Casinos are losing customers to on-line betting. Why drive to a casino when you can lose your ass from the comfort of your own living room recliner.

They're also going heavily towards video gaming and slot machines and doing away with dealer type games. Cuts down on the labor costs significantly.
