Definitely. Tucker Carlson's interview with Putin in February 2024 was perhaps his best moment on that front. I'm not saying that Carlson is the most intellectual journalist out there, but he's certainly quite popular and just going to Russia to interview Putin brought a lot of attention to the true causes of the conflict in Ukraine as well as other matters as expressed by Russia's President, which in turn reflects a lot of Russia's views in general. I think that Cynthia Chung, who -does- have a lot of intellectual acumin, did an excellent analysis of said interview. It can be seen here:
Something somewhat historical happened just two days ago, though it is unclear how many Americans will understand its significance...

You think Putin told Tucker "the truth"?
I certainly haven't seen any evidence that he told Tucker anything that he didn't himself believe.
The Ukraine offensive is not a "war" it was a Russia invasion followed by the kidnapping and rape of Ukrainian men, women and children.
The war in Ukraine started long before Russia's military operation began in 2022. While the exact point in time where it started can be hard to pinpoint, I think Euromaidan would be where things got into high gear. If you haven't heard of the event, Wikipedia has a page on it here:
en.wikipedia.org
That page has some distinct falsehoods, but the one that I think is most egregious is a little bit of text concerning what happened on February 20th, 2014. The article doesn't even mention that individual date, instead lumping in the dates between February 18th to 20th as if there was nothing major to distinguish them. Here's the text:

February 2014: Revolution
Main article:
Revolution of Dignity
The deadliest clashes were on 18–20 February, which saw the most severe violence in Ukraine since it regained independence. Thousands of protesters advanced towards parliament, led by activists with shields and helmets, and were fired on by the Berkut and police snipers. Almost 100 were killed.

This little snippet of text doesn't say a word on the fact that there is no solid evidence that the government was involved in the killings that day and a lot of evidence that it was actually a faction of the Ukrainian protesters themselves that were the culprits. An article on Global Research gets into a documentary that uncovers this truth. It can be seen here:
The interviews with three snipers of Georgian nationality, conducted by the Italian journalist Gian Micalessin and aired as a breathtaking documentary on Milan-based Canale 5 (Matrix program) have not paved their way to the international mainstream media.

The article was published way back in 2017 and the youtube videos it now links to says it were published 7 years ago, but to date, few people know of it. Quoting a bit of the article below:

The interviews with three snipers of Georgian nationality, conducted by the Italian journalist
Gian Micalessin and
aired as a breathtaking documentary on
Milan-based Canale 5 (Matrix program) last week, still have not paved its way to the international mainstream media. That is hardly surprising taking into account the bombshell evidence against the real perpetrators and organizers of the 2014 coup d’etat in Kiev, generally known as the “
revolution of dignity“.
The documentary features
Alexander Revazishvili,
Koba Nergadze and
Zalogi Kvaratskhelia, Georgian military officers who were recruited to carry out a “special mission” in Kiev by
Mamuka Mamulashvili, a close aid of Mikhail Saakashvili’s former defense minister
Bacho Akhalaia. They claim that on Jan 15, 2014 they landed in Kiev equipped with fake documents and were transferred to Maidan. Having received 1000 USD each one and being promised to be paid 5000 USD after the “job is done”, they were tasked to prepare sniper positions inside the buildings of
Hotel Ukraine and
Conservatory, dominant over the Maidan Square.
The facts they exposed afterwards, were shocking. Along with other snipers (some of them were Lithuanians) they were put under command of an American military operative
Brian Christopher Boyenger (his Facebook page is
here). The coordinating team also included Mamulashvili and infamous
Segrey Pashinsky, who was detained by protesters on Feb 18, 2017
with a sniper rifle in the boot of his car and later headed the first post-Maidan interim president administration of Ukraine. The weapons came on stage on February 18 and were distributed to the various Georgian and Lithuanian groups. “
There were three or four weapons in each bag, there were Makarov guns, AKM guns, rifles, and a lot of cartridges.” – witnesses Nergadze.
The following day, Mamulashvili and Pashinsky explained to snipers that they should shoot at the square and sow chaos.
“When Mamulashvili arrived, I also asked him. Things are getting complicated, we have to start shooting – he replied that we cannot go to presidential elections. “But who to shoot?“ I asked. He replied that who and where it did not matter, you had to shoot somewhere so much to sow chaos.”

2 things to note:
1- I was able to see the facebook page of American military operative Christopher Boyenger before it was taken down. He's mentioned elsewhere, such as the following article:
2- The date of Segrey's detainment had to be in 2014, not 2017. The link in the article is now dead, but there's another article on Sergey being caught with a sniper rifle here:
Sergey Pashinsky On December 18, it became known that MP Sergei Pashinsky became a defendant in another criminal investigation. According to the National
ruscrime.com
It was only -after- Euromaidan ran its course, with the elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych fleeing for his life to Russia, that Russia decided to accept the results of a Crimean referendum to return its territory to the Russian federation. There's a good article on what happened there as well, by the only western journalist I know who wrote an article on the subject after visiting Crimea after this event:
Eva Bartlett traveled to Crimea to see how people have fared since their country reunited with Russia and what the referendum was really like
