Oklahoma Bible mandate challenged in Court

Jews, Muslims , Hindus, Buddhists and non believers should not be required to be taught that xtian Protestant " holy book "

If they want to have it as an elective in history of religion that is a different matter

The "Oklahoma Bible mandate" refers to a July 2024 directive by Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters requiring public schools in grades 5-12 to incorporate the Bible into their curriculum and have copies in classrooms, citing historical and cultural significance. This mandate is controversial, facing a lawsuit from parents, teachers, and faith leaders who argue it violates the Oklahoma Constitution's religious freedom protections and the separation of church and state. The lawsuit also challenges the state's plan to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to acquire the Bibles, some of which were initially specified to include patriotic documents found in the "God Bless the USA Bible" endorsed by Donald Trump.

More of the relentless effort of some Xtians to shove their religion down the throats of others. This seems clearly unconstitutional.

Evangelists use the KJV. Why they believe the KJV Bible is the most authentic version is weird to me. Force of habit?

It does have a rich history.

I preferred the KJV over the RSV or whatever it was that Lutherans used when I was growing up. The language to me was like poetry, which I also love.

That being said, the only way IMO that any version of the Bible should be distributed and taught in public school is if the other major world religions' sacred texts are also distributed and taught. Fair is fair.

Somehow I can't see OK parents being on board with teaching from the Quran. lol

I'm think SCOTUS will knock this down but only after someone tries to put the Quran or Torah in the classrooms and is denied. A book of Witch's Spells would be good too. LOL

Agreed. Either all the religions are taught or none of them. None is better since the focus should be on the 3 R's.
