GOP wins House seat in Obama's home district

Really....?

Its ironic that when Jarod raved and bragged and made a big deal about some Dem. winning an election a couple of weeks ago....you didn't mention he was a party hack having an orgasm about it....
Must have slipped your little mind....

onceler has double standards...his entire mission in life is to annoy, harrass and try and get those on the right in gotcha moments

Awwww...you must still be sore about starting a thread stating that MSNBC wouldn't cover the Afghan milestone, about an hour before they made it their cover story.

You guys always seek these sorts of double-standard gotchas (and man, do I notice how much you & Yurt are all over hacktacular threads from those on the right!), but the fact is that I've called Jarod out a bunch of times for his leftie-ness.

I'm glad we've got some board police who go back & search and are somehow - amazingly - able to find a thread or 2 where I didn't (actually, on the thread you posted, I said that I didn't really see the meaning in the election he was talking about).

Now, you both keep up your amazing "equal opportunity" criticism of both the right & the left....

Not at all, I made a mistake and its water over the bridge(to everyone but you, anyway)

Maybe...on other matters...seems this issue (elections) depends on which side does the winning....

And I'm sure you were very polite about telling him...unlike your wise-ass crack to yurt....

Now, you both keep up your amazing "equal opportunity" criticism of both the right & the left....

I just call out the hypocrites where I find 'em....thats usually in the gutter to my left....how ironic is that.

lol...our cute little onceler still obsessing over this gotcha....just as i said....he will obsess over this for LONG time...he lives for the gotcha....he doesn't care to actually debate or discuss issues....all he comes here for is to annoy, bash on anything he deems "right" aisle, and the gotcha moment

it makes him feel superior....ah...let's let him feel superior over his one gotcha moment....

*moment of silence*

lmao...thanks for showing once again what a hack you are...you make a big deal about dem winning where mccain won when the dem ran essentially on a mccain platform and not an obama/pelosi/reid platform

you're priceless

He didn't win as big a % of the vote as even McCain did. His showing was actually quite pathetic.

Had this been ONE Democrat vs One Republican Yurt would never have even posted about the Hawaii election. This election was to fill a vacancy until November and as many people as wanted to run and only a plurality was needed to win.

If you're going to run a special election, you need either some new primaries or a runoff (that's how we do it in MS).

what does that have to do with my OP...according to nigel...a WIN is a WIN period...

nice try...its comical to see the libs freak out that i posted this....its just a post, i made no qualifications about the election, either good or bad....you hacks just ASSUME because i posted it that it must mean something...i suggest you read the OP again

Sorry man, I'm not hip to any conversations between you and Nigel. And this disjointed gibberish you wrote in the OP was undecipherable to me... unless I guess if one was privy to whatever you and Nigel were blabbing about:

YURT:

i can't wait for party hacks like nigel to explain this...afterall....when mccain wins, running on an anti obama/pelosi/reid platform because then....a democrat wins the same district/area....it matters....notwithstanding....that the democrat ran, NOT, on an anti obama/pelosi/reid platform....but pretty much ran on a republican/mccain platform....

Murtha was a blue dog democrat. That's a conservative district, and only a crappy blue dog was going to win it.

The fact is republicans totally expected to win Murtha's district. They poured a lot of money into it. The fact that they got blown out by 8 points by a blue dog, was pretty much a dissapointment to them. I don't think the GOP considers that fact that a blue dog held Murtha's seat to be a victory for the GOP.

In Hawaii, this republican dude only got 38 percent of the vote, and only won by being pitted against two democrats. It was a special election, and this GOP dude is almost certainly going to get completely blown out this november when he runs head to head against a Dem.

But, if you want to think that this hawaii election was just like the Murtha district, and that all this is somehow representative of victory for conservatives, that's fine. Be my guest.

Murtha won his seat in the last race by 16 points, his lowest margin in decades. The 8 point margin that Critz won with is a definite victory....but in a Blue Dog strong hold where 16 point margins are considered low it tells a story of loss.

Just because i'm a school partisan this was posted on the USC Football board this morning. (USC plays at Hawaii in September)

OK, now for something completely different. How did USC alum Charles Djou do in his three-way race for Congress in Honolulu that ended with a mail-in vote last weekend?

Djou won with 39.4 percent of the vote. First time a Republican will represent Pres. Barack Obama's home district in 20 years. But when USC heads to Hawaii in September, don't be surprised if Djou, 39, a law professor at the University of Hawaii and a city council member, keeps a low profile. He'll have to defend his special election in a one-on-one race in November in the heavily Democratic district and won't have the advantage of two Democrats in the race to split the vote.

An incumbent usually has about a 10% advantage. Only losing 8% with a new candidate is actually pretty good.

Murtha had experienced large margins; a 16 point margin in his last election was the lowest he had had in decades...that a fellow democrat only managed an 8 point margin shows a weakened democrtic support...like it or not

In many districts like that there'd be basically no one way in heck we could expect to keep the seat. I chalk it up to a very good job by the local Democratic party.
