Our local paper had a long article on Hamtramck, a long-time Polish community in Detroit. It has always had Polish flags flying, and nobody cared. Chinese areas have flown Chinese flags. Nobody cared. German areas had German flags. No big deal. This bitch about Mexican flags is just a horrible insult and against our normal response to foreign flags. Why rightys never know better is a mystery.

It's not flying the flags per se. It's flying certain flags during a protest about immigration is self-defeating. Again, their right to do it and it's the right of American voters to not give a shit about helping them with more than a bus pass back to Mexico.

The argument is that flying the Mexican flag is somehow against America. It is no different than the examples I gave. They are here to work and live.

The argument is "if you want to be given legal status to live here and work, fly the American flag during a protest".

It's bad optics, and liberals better learn that lesson before we become a permanent minority.

It's one thing to have a Russian, Mexican, or Pakistani flag at home. But to fly them when petitioning the US government - which is what a protest is - is just bad optics.
