Here’s why there are so many Mexican flags at the LA ICE riots

They can take their flag and their heritage back where they came from. This is the United States of America. Fly our flag or none at all.

Indeed!

It's bad optics, and liberals better learn that lesson before we become a permanent minority.

It's one thing to have a Russian, Mexican, or Pakistani flag at home. But to fly them when petitioning the US government - which is what a protest is - is just bad optics.
It is what America has always been. You Trumpys are trying to change who we are and what we are. Ever hear about the melting pot? America has grown through immigration. It makes us stronger and builds the economy. We need the workers.

No, it isn’t the same and you know it.
It's about heritage so I disagree. It's the same. Just because one is more racist or more nationalist than the other is irrelevant.

Still, I agree people in the US can wave whatever flag they desire. My point remains that if one wants to become a US citizen or be granted a green card, to gain popular sympathy, they should be waving a US flag, not a foreign flag.

Good historical write-up and context with the current situation albeit some confusion on the part of Latinos waving the flags.

Long story short; they believe California belongs to Mexico and are waving the flags in solidarity of returning California back to Mexico. As the link explains, this is both historically and factually W-R-O-N-G.

...the reality is that the mass Mexican flag-waving isn’t just a PR blunder. They aren’t just waving those flags because they don’t want to be deported back to Mexico. The message they are sending is often not even pro-immigration, but bizarrely nativist.

Here’s a protester making an animated case that Los Angeles is actually “Mexican.”

Mexico’s Senate president made a somewhat more measured argument that Los Angeles and the American Southwest should be a part of Mexico.

Even the noted public intellectual and acclaimed astronaut Katy Perry took to social media to exclaim how Los Angeles was “founded by Mexican settlers in 1781” and that it was “Mexican land.”...

That’s curious since Mexico didn’t exist until 1821 when it declared independence from Spain.
Why were there so many confederate flags at 1/6?

They wanted to overthrow the US government. The whole "The South shall rise again" ideology now overtaken by the White Nationalists.

Still, the point is they were free to fly whatever flags they like but risk alienating Americans who support the United States just like those waving Mexican or other foreign flags.
