Now there's a nuanced and original take on this issue that I haven't heard eleventy billion times before.
Yup, Obama should have been out in the gulf with a bottle of Dawn Dishwashing soap and a brush.
My problem with the Katrina resonce was 1) the fact that people were unnecessarly DYING, and 2) that he consinued to support Heck of a Job Brownie when it was clear the guy was way in over his head.

That sums it up in a nutshell. All it really comes down to is die-hard Bush supporters who have been carrying the elephant-sized chip of Katrina on their shoulders for years, and chomping at the bit for something - anything - that they can pin on Obama that is somehow "comparable."
And here we have another New Orleans disaster...perfect!
However, I can list the Bush mis-steps and mistakes that exacerbated Katrina. I'm guessing you can't do the same for Obama & BP.
I'M SURE WE WILL FIND OUT OVER TIME. I THINK THE GREATER POINT OF ALL THIS IS WHY THE HELL ARE WE PAYING RIDICULOUS TAXES TO FUND AGENCIES THAT CANT RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES WORTH SHIT... ON EITHER SIDE OF GOVT.

And it illustrates another paradox amongst conservatives: they make a big show of wanting to cut the fed gov't & keep the feds out of private business, but as soon as something happens that private business clearly is helpless to control, it's all about "where the heck are the feds?"

my take is why do we pay so much tax for all these agencies yet they even more incompetent the the IRS.
No comparison....one was a act of God, one was preventable by competant people.
You're basically pissed off that the government isn't comprised of people that can tackle any challenge whatsoever with ease no matter how difficult the task? Aren't you asking maybe just a little much from the government? What exactly did you want the government to do in this instance?
