What was the deal with China The Felon announced?

we went from 0 to 145 to 30.

they went from 0 to 125 to 10.

I am fact checking my own historical understanding here
Chinese Tariffs on US goods averaged 21% on US goods before Trump first began raising the tariffs. China's tariffs also affected $2 billion worth of U.S. agricultural product exports, with tariffs ranging from 25% on pork to 15% on fruits, nuts, wine, and other goods.

10% was the first that he imposed, then China got mad and reacted and thus began a tariff war... The 100 Days Tariff War (coined it myself, patent pending, patent pending... and patent pending, that means you Flanders)....

The first tariff increase on February 4th was 10% from Trump, the 2nd it went up to 20% on March 4th, another 10% on April 4th, then another 34% (total 54% here) on April 9th, later that same day (April 9th) they added another 50% totaling 104%. Showing great patience they waited one whole day, and on April 10th increased it to its final destination at 145%..

Each of the increases were in response to Chinese retaliation...

when I say we went form 0 to 145 to 30, I am using the 0 as a baseline. We had plenty of tariffs on China, 0 was not the starting point for us
I listed the tariffs as they happened. We were standard MFN rates, which are set by the WTO, with China as they had "most favored nation" trading status. They weren't zero, but they were low and definitely lower than the 21% we were charged on average by China.
