Dem strategist gives stark warning about party's future after election loss: 'Our brand sucks'

A Democratic strategist who helped President Obama win Florida in 2008 says his party needs a major overhaul if it wants to win future elections.

"IT IS TIME TO STOP talking about 2024," Steve Schale, CEO of the super PAC Unite the Country, told his party in a post for The Bulwark on Wednesday.

"The real conversation is how my party went from the broadest electoral mandate of the previous twenty-five years, with the biggest majority in the Senate in the previous thirty years, to a shell of itself—a political organization that can hardly be classified as a national entity anymore," he continued.

The Democratic Party suffered major setbacks up and down the ballot in the 2024 elections, as President-elect Donald Trump recaptured the White House, and the GOP flipped the Senate and held on to their fragile majority in the House.

DNC CHAIR FRONTRUNNER OFFERS ‘UNCOMFORTABLE' ADVICE TO DEMOCRATS AFTER CRUSHING LOSS TO TRUMP

Schale warned that Democrats were on a losing streak in Florida, Ohio and Iowa, and it was only going to get worse if they didn't make "real structural changes" to the party.

His suggestions included spending more money earlier on ads addressing crime and the economy and dealing with the right's "advantage" in the podcast and social media sphere by "building" their own "ecosystem" to deliver information to their base and persuadable voters.

But Schale said these strategies wouldn't work if the party didn't also change its messaging to broaden its coalition.

"The truth is we got here because our brand sucks. We tend to put voters in different buckets—black, Hispanic, young, gay, etc.—and treat these groups like they are more progressive than they really are, and somehow unique from each other. At the same time, we’ve made decisions to stop talking to large chunks of the electorate," he wrote.....

Some Democrats are waking up at least.

Just 4 years delayed......... Biden's loss was big..... minus the fraud votes.
I thought nobody was dumb enough to still believe the Trumpian mantra about being cheated. Trump proved the election was fair. He was given every possible opportunity to prove his lies are not lies and he failed. Were you aware of all his court cases and recounts?

While I would love to see them out of power for an extended period of time, here's why I roll my eyes at this. The same exact thing was being said about Republicans post 2008. The party was dead, they wouldn't win again, etc. etc. etc. (We're of course talking national level here.)

At the end of the day there's a reason power changes hands so frequently between the parties, because when things aren't going well people want change. People (political party's) are always on a high after a win and feel like sh*t after losing. Outside of Reagan/Bush you have to go back to FDR/Truman for the last time one party held the Presidency for 12 years or longer. And over the past few decades control of Congress has switched multiple times.

There is zero indication that this won't continue into the foreseeable future.

Was it being said by Republicans, though?

15 million missing Biden votes... aka fraud votes in 2020.

The Democrat Brand is so bad, that they have to cheat to win.

I don't disagree but I do think more rational minds may get control of the Democrat party and steer it more towards the center.

Our brand sux because we like ACCEPTING PEOPLE WHO ARE DIFFERENT FROM US but we FAIL to accept those who wish to spread hate. We need to be more "inclusive" of the Nazis and Nazi-wannabes.

We suck massively because we have been trying for years to get healthcare that would benefit everyone. Just a couple of days ago we saw a man GUNNED DOWN IN THE STREET IN COLD BLOOD and most Americans are having a tough time feeling bad about it because it was a HEALTHCARE INSURANCE EXECUTIVE. That's gotta tell you something about how much AMericans REALLY like their healthcare system if we can't care about the cold blooded murder of one of the CEO's in the healthcare industry, what does that say about our care for the wellbeing of our Oligarchs?

We SUCK BALLZ because we saw a decreasing inflation rate, INCREASE IN MANUFACTURING JOBS and off-the-charts crazy high 401k retirements over the last for years as a GOOD THING. We didn't realize it was hell on earth!

We SUCK BIG DONKEY DIX because we don't toady up to every single dictator on earth. Our candidate didn't have one dictator to claim as a friend during the debates, but Trump did! He told everyone how Erdogan respected him!

So yeah, we have a LOT to make up for. What with all the non-existent sex change operations in elementary schools and millions of illegals crossing from Mexico unable to speak English and with almost no education taking high paying middle management jobs from good white people. We need to pay a price for the horrors that people imagined were possible while we were in charge.

Like that would actually change your mind.

You DO realize that Obama was a centerist, Clinton was a centerist, Biden was a centerist.
NONE OF THEM FORCED TRANS SURGERIES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
NONE OF THEM SUPPORTED ELIMINATING THE BORDER ALTOGETHER.
NONE OF THEM TOOK YOUR GUNS OR EVEN TRIED.
NONE OF THEM STARTED WWIII
NONE OF THEM.

So in your MIND you were running against a party that DOES NOT EXIST. You were running against solid centerists who did NONE OF THE THINGS YOU GUYS LOST YOUR SHIT OVER.

Dems have to re-claim "woke" to mean what it used to mean - just being vigilant about equal rights for all. It morphed into something much more sinister, largely w/ the help of the GOP "defining" it.

That's really it. I have zero doubt that the new MAGA admin will go way too far, and Dems will win 2026. Not sure yet if it will be a "blue wave," but I'd be surprised if they don't control Congress at that point.
