The DOW was 7949 when Obama was inagurated a bit more than a year ago...

Its currently 10296!

Thats some hopey changie stuff that has worked pretty well for me!

It was a good line, you have to admit that.
And while 10,0000 is good, still being down 28% from the peak is nothing to write home about at all.

We lost 800,000 jobs the month Presidnet Obama was inagurated.

We lost less than 50,000 last month... and a trend that shows jobs will likely be created next month.

Thats some Hopey Changie that is working well for me!

It was a good line, but stolen from somewnere, my brother tried it on me at Christmas.

GDP was down 5% the month President Obama was inagurated, it was up over 6% last quarter.

give me a qtr or two of 5+ GDP and that will make 10,000 on the dow look like chump change.

That's my hopey changey deal, if not Obama won't be reelected.

It is the economy stupid.

Im giving President Obama all the CREDIT, based on how much blame the Republicans have heaped on him!

"Its a year in, he OWNS this economy" - Sarah Palin.

The President tends to get all the blame or credit.

You're certainly quick to give him all the blame - like, when a DEA agent in CO raids what appears to be a MM location...

how silly of me to hold obama to "the buck stops with me"....i guess you're saying obama lied about that too :good4u:

yes, presidents do, but you know full well that it is wrong to do so

is this how were supposed to measure how good of a job the admin is doing... by counting the jobs that were lost ?

if so, that is quite sad...

There are 70,000 less American heros in Iraq today.

Thats some great Hopey Changie thats working well for me.

No - you can hold him to it. Just try to be intellectually honest when doing so.

You know full well that if the economy doesn't do well, Obama will get full blame for it, and you'll be leading the charge. He staked a lot on the stimulus; I don't believe he or any President should ever get full credit, but he will deserve some credit for the recovery if it takes hold....

Its not complete but its change that gives me hope!

Unemployment is still over 10%, and Obama promised it wouldn't be over 8% if we passed the stimulus and elected him. He promised the stimulus would create millions of new jobs, instead, he has lost 4 million jobs in his first year. But the biggest lie he told, was about how his administration was going to be "transparent" ...they are more secretive than Bush/Cheney ever dreamed of being. He did deliver on one promise, he said he would unite America, and he has done that... united against his agenda!

Jarhead, I hope all of these threads you are posting are making you feel better about the situation. I know it sucks when your entire ideology seems to be spiraling down the toilet before your eyes, when you were so close to having it all! So by all means, you just keep on propping yourself up with all of these positive-thinking posts about how great and wonderful Obama has done! If it helps you deal with what's happening, and keeps you from blowing your pinhead off, then I am all for it! And who said I didn't have a heart?

I've already explained how this isn't much of a "good" indicator at all.

Let's say I had a company that laid off 20% (100 employees total, I lay off 20, 80 left) of its workers at the beginning of the downturn. As it continued I laid off another 10% (now only 8, 72 employees left now) and started cutting into the meat... I was able to squeak out a bit more productivity from my employees and now was able to lay off 5% more and get a bit of a profit just last month... (that's 3 more if you're doing the math I now have 69 employees), it isn't because the economy is getting better that I am laying off less people.

Less people losing their jobs is not an indicator of a powerfully good change in the economy.

By this time in the Bush administration we had lost the twin towers, a huge hole had been blown into the pentagon and anthrax had been shipped around the country.

Under President Obama we have had one failed attempt at an underwear bombing.

Give it three months, we will be adding jobs. Id say one month, but there are outliers.

The trend is change that is giving me hope!

Careful, Dix. Don't make me bump some of your DOW prediction threads from last year.

And I know you're terrified right now, because things do appear to be turning around. It will only get harder to spin Obama as a failure on the economy...
