The irony here is that Tom Paine was the most explicitly anti-Christian founding father. He was definitely a deist, and a lot of people think he was hiding atheism. He was also the first person to propose a welfare state. Again, seeing the far right tories quote an American patriot like Paine sickens me. Paine would've spat on them.
Paine was an atheist, and was hardly a founding father.
He was indeed probably an atheist. But he was a founding father. His pamphlet "Common Sense" was one of the widely read pieces that attempted to stir the masses to revolution.
I am a resident of Alabama. I was subjected to the hypocrisy of that man's acts. And now you want to make it sound as though his words have meaning and should be argued or accepted on their own merits?
I am passionate about what Roy Moore did. I took an oath a long time ago to defend the US Constitution. I don't recall the oath saying anything about a time limit.
Perhaps the US Constitution is something you can toss aside whenever it is politically expedient to do so, but its not how I work.
This is not a hissy fit. This is condemnation of a many who desecrated the Alabama Supreme Courthouse, defied a higher court, ignored the US Constitution, and was removed from office for his actions.
The Ten Commandments are hardly a freaking desecration you hysterical girl!
Nice to see you admit that you're having a hissy fit. Now if you can only admit that you projected yours onto me......

This "national TEA Party convention" was a mistake, they've worked hard to institute what was a movement into something it shouldn't be.
Over $400 admission? Talks from party hacks and social conservative wonks? Whomever put this shindig on is directly working to wreck what was started.
Solitary's got an obvious hard-on for The Southern Man.![]()
