From today's paper. Of course there's back history here and not everything occurs in a vacuum. But the Chronicle interviews several working class type folks for their reactions. This one jumped out at me because on a board like this we argue inflation is dropping and it's not a big deal etc - largely because people here have money. Not that upper middle class people are immune to the effects of cost increases but assuming you don't live above your means you don't feel them in the same way. Working class and lower income people clearly do. Here's one working class person's view of it. To him, inflation is still high. (It makes no reference to who they voted for or who they will vote for but it shows inflation is still on their minds)

“They (PG&E) keep causing disasters and they keep getting rewarded by state officials,” said a man who identified himself as Jose Lopez, who called into the proceeding from his home in the Central Valley. “Inflation is high and people are struggling to pay their bills.”
