I have no doubt he believes what he says, but whether he can push that through a divided Congress remains to be seen.

If he starts pushing to violate the Constitution using the Bible then he'll help Democrats and hurt Republicans. One example is his comments about rights not being in the Constitution. This is clearly wrong since 1) all Americans have unalienable rights and 2) the Constitution limits the Federal government, not citizens.

In 2003, Mr Johnson wrote in a column in The Shreveport Times: “There is clearly no ‘right to sodomy’ in the Constitution, and the right of ‘privacy of the home’ has never placed all activity with the home outside the bounds of the criminal law”.

He is an extreme religious zealot not just happy to live his life, his way but who looks to grab the power of law and use it to criminalize the actions of others as a way to force them to live their lives to his morals.

He is an absolutist when it comes to the topic of abortion in ways that extend that definition beyond reason. He wants a law that would criminalize any act post the Sperm and Egg touching, that would call that result life and criminalize any attempt to end, such as the morning after pill. He makes no exception for rape, incest or even the health of the mother. His views on criminalizing and punishing via the law Dr's, anyone who has an abortion, gay people and others who do not live to his religion was exactly what the Founders never wanted in people in gov't.

You would instantly agree if he was a Muslim trying to use the law to force their way on you and others, but since you LIKE what he is doing you are blind to it.

They not only don’t see a problem, they pray and promote it. It’s is now easier for me to understand how leaders like Kim, Putin and others come to power. I read it in books and could never fully comprehend, how could people be deceived by evil, but now seeing it happen, I finally understand how it happens, apathy, by people who know better.

BUt in terms of winning elections, it was PROVED in 2020 Midterms and in 2016 GE, the more Trump uses his pressure to push these Magat extremist to the fore, the more Dems over perform in EACH AND EVERY election.

So those tears you see are tears of joy. We will gladly push Mike's record and beliefs into public discourse and highlight him as reprehensible and if you think that means we do not want him in that job, you keep thinking that.

Lets get Magats in all key spots and finally put an end to this movement with even bigger Dem wins.

And then let the real tears flow as you guys cry and whine as you cannot accept the vast majority of citizens REJECT YOU and everything you stand for, as you cry 'rigged' for the next four years.

Those tears, you guys are still crying now flowing almost 4 years later are the saltiest of all.

Excellent point. Remember all the screaming when Obama was President about "Sharia Law"? Yet the so-called Christian fundies, like Johnson, see absolutely nothing wrong with using our legislative system to implement THEIR version of Sharia Law. They also don't seem to understand why we non-fundies find this dangerous and anti-American. To them, we just "hate all believers."

It's a deceitful tactic to accuse others of doing exactly what the accuser wants to do. In this case, fearmonger about Sharia Law as an excuse to force Christian Law upon all Americans.

Yup.

And the Red States have suffered a significant amount of gerry mandering case LOSSES in the last two years will FORCE them to carve out many more seats the Dems will win. Between that and the republi'cans' almost certainly losing the 3-4 seats in NYS that only Dem incompetence in NYS allowed them to win, means that this current House configuration, which was supposed to be so popular as to spawn a Red Wave, would not even have achieved a majority.

And Mike Johnson will be key to taking back those seats in NYS amongst many others.

And they can't see that they are no different than millions of others before who fell for the blandishments of a leader who utilizes their grievances skillfully. All it takes is for there to be a trigger, and the right person (Putin, Hitler, Trump) to pull it.

While apathy is key, in the center or more moderate people, with the hope by despot wannabe's that it cannot happen here, it is hate and xenophobia that is weaponized to drive the base.

Currently you have a Magat base, comprised of evangelicals and others who primary goal is to own the libz and see them punished. And thus they will accept and support a man in Trump, who they should reject more than any other politician, due to his list of moral failings. But since they prioritize their hate of others and desire to punish and control them, they will accept Trump believing he has the lack of ethics to maybe get it done.

What the lesser hateful and lightly more moderate in the party do not do (the Terry's or Lyingfish's, etc) is understand that once the American Taliban take power, they will not just stop once they own the Libz. They would also make life miserable for them just as actual Taliban punishes even devout Muslims, who are just seen as not devout enough.

So while the American Taliban would celebrate a Trump win, and grab their popcorn to watch as he attacked the Dems and right and tore apart the Constitutional system, they would soon see themselves too, on the losing side, as an Oligarch system, similar to Russia was put in place. Extreme wealth for a handful of 'favorites' and chaos and stagnation and poverty for everyone else, including his derp supporters.
