What labor union victory looks like

The American powerful middle class was built on the power of unions. The last 50 years the corporate press and the Repub party have been destroying unions. The result is workers suffering from inflation , wage cuts, and a huge loss of power. We have the worst wealth gap in history. America has been extremely profitable the last few decades and that money went to the top. That was accompanied by huge tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations.
Trumpys are not knowledgeable enough to even see who the enemy is. They fell under the spell of bad sites like Infowars and Fox. Vote for giving more power to the owners and the wealthy. They must love you and will see that you succeed.
Trumpys cannot see that they want to empower the wealthy even more than they are now. Trump has no idea what your problems are and he does not care about them either.

50 years ago technology and globalization were not nearly as present as they are today. My father told me as a kid his parents would say "eat all the food on your plate because there are starving kids in China". Well today it's more like "you better study your *ss off in school because there are kids in China, India and other parts of the globe that you will be competing with for capital and jobs".

So this idea that we are going to turn the hands of time back and re-create the economic environment of the 50's and 60's where private sector unions had far more power is a fallacy. It may make you feel good to say "Trumpy" every other word but it just ignores reality.

And since we're speaking of cars, it tends not to be the Trumpy's buying large numbers of Teslas. And Tesla workers are non-unionized. So why would so many non-Trumpys buy a non-union made car?

It may be a temporary fallacy until income distribution is so insufferable to humanity
that revolution brings back the concept of totally authoritarian communism
and it will take generations to adjust from that.

I figure that we're coming to that relatively soon,
it's probably the only short term solution that will help,
but not many are expecting it.

As for me, I've owned many automobiles over a long lifetime.
and I believe that they were ALL union made.

Ford, UAW reach tentative deal to end strike including record pay raise

The proposed accord, which UAW's leadership must still approve, provides a 25% wage hike over the 4-1/2-year contract, starting with an initial increase of 11%.

New 2024 Ford F150 with an underpowered 2.7 V6 today costs $62,999. Add another 25% and it's $87,000.

Just who the fuck can afford that. A $1,700 a month car payment?

There is a reason Toyota is the #1 auto manufacturer, and Hyundai is #2.

Ford is bowing out of the market.

I am sure the calculous is that when the bank accounts run dry Washington will make some more money and give it to them.

But that wont be happening, Washington's ability to make new dollars is almost over.

How do you figure?

IF the fascist democrats retain power in 2024, then we can expect MASSIVE cash infusions into GM at least, probably Ford as well. What makes you think the ability of the Fed and Congress to counterfeit money will stop?

Now I've never had anyone offer me big bucks for my geopolitical prognostications (and for good reason), that said I feel pretty safe in being willing to bet my daughter's college fund that this revolution will not take place.

(This is just an aside but there were a couple of reasons I've never voted for Trump but in 2016 one of the big ones was his trade policy. I support free trade and Trump made it pretty clear he wasn't a fan. And once in office he showed it by bumping up tariffs and starting a trade war. This is the irony of politics; those are positions most unions support - but it's simply a case of people not liking the messenger as evidenced by many people no longer complaining about the tariffs even though Biden left most of them in place.)

You can already buy a truck with a msrp over 100K. Most people cannot afford that.

The problem is you CAN'T buy a truck from the Big 3 with an MSRP UNDER $50K.

democrats oppose the private ownership of transportation by the general public. Pricing vehicles so the majority of Americans can't afford them is consistent with the goals of the party.

This is the Anti-Ford approach, make cars so expensive that no one in America can afford one.

Why do goobers like pickups so much?
Unless one needs a truck for commercial purposes, I don't see the point.

Wouldn't you be more comfortable in a well appointed sedan?
Is a hundred thousand dollar plus F-250 more comfortable than an S-Class?

Are you so far out in the boonies that you don't even have trash pickup?
If so, WHY???

this is something i've noticed with the socialist loons, like you. Why do you have such an emotional and visceral reaction to people who prefer rural life????? does that kind of independence unnerve you?

Or moreover, why can't the peasantry just be happy to take a bus or train? We can go where our betters want us to go, on their schedule. Who do Americans think they are? Why should the little people be able to go anywhere they want any time they want without even asking permission from the government?

Do you define the absence of urban comfort and convenience to be independence?
I believe that you do.
Thinking that living like a goober makes you more "independent" is a way of helping yourself tolerate it.
That's fine it it works. I like electricity and indoor plumbing, but that's just me.

If you're not pulling horse trailers, running a farm, or working as a contractor, the only reason for driving around in an F-250 is to make their miniature dicks feel bigger.

I find absolutely nothing about an urban environment of noise, pollution, and crime to be a comfort or convenience

Thinking that living like a goober makes you more "independent" is a way of helping yourself tolerate it.
tell us why you think living out in a peaceful rural area makes one a goober?

That's fine it it works. I like electricity and indoor plumbing, but that's just me.
oh, I see. you're a total dumbass who thinks that those still living in rural areas use outhouses and oil lamps

Possibly, perhaps even probably,
but even then, I can imagine how that works.

It is a fine working vehicle if you have that kind of very useful work,
but handing the keys to the parking valet at the restaurant isn't a bit embarrassing?

was hoping for some infantile remarks about sexual prowess. i'm not disappointed ROFL

what about my mother who loves her F250??????

I accept your tacit confession that every prediction of depression and recession hollered by Trump and MAGA for the past three years have failed to come to pass.

You can accept whatever you like but nothing was offered. Things are far more expensive now than when trump was in office.

The problem is you CAN'T buy a truck from the Big 3 with an MSRP UNDER $50K.

You are lying again. The 2023 Ford Maverick has an MSRP of $22,595, which is much less than $50k. The 2023 Ford Ranger has an MSRP of $28,895. The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado has an MSRP of $29,200. The 2023 Ram 1500 Classic has an MSRP of $31,270. If you are willing to go foreign, you can go a little less... Though $23k is hard to beat.

These truck prices are heavily tied to the incomes of the people who buy them. The car makers literally have to wait until those people make more money to charge them more. There is virtually no elasticity in those markets.

They may not be the trucks you want, but for a certain portion of the working population, they are the trucks they need. You may want the $100k truck. If you have the money, have fun.

I will point out that getting more truck or car than you need is almost always a fools game.
