Our Mid East policy hasn't changed since the end of WW2.

We only care about controlling oil, and Israel is perfect for that end. We have an ally who gives us proximity to the oil rich region in case we have to 'protect our oil'.

We really don't read much about Israel's long history of oppression with respect to Palestine. We hear an awful lot about attacks/threats against Israel by neighboring nations. As we should.

The oppression happens because Israel has our blessing. Have we ever pressured Israel to change their ways?

It's understandable that our foreign policy dictates that we protect Israel from hostile neighbors.

We should also speak out against the atrocities.

Bush was in office less than 8 months. Clinton had 8 years. It was a state secret that Islamic terrorists wanted to kill Americans. The first attack on the WTC in 1993 was a clue even the most dense Americans could follow. The bombings of our USOs, Embassies and ships had been happening for years. Clinton even threw a few cruise missiles at al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Why people want to pin 9/11 on Bush or make this a conspiracy theory is silly to me. We, the People, were too lazy to see what was happening overseas and falsely believed our two oceans would protect us. All the military officers I knew expected that it was just a matter of time before another major terrorist attack happened inside our own boarders.
