Will Gaetz Be Successful in Ousting McCarthy?

You have too much patience. I can't deal with 10 any longer. He's worse than useless.

I am shocked the House ousted McCarthy. I'm even more shocked the Dems overwhelmingly voted him out. I honestly don't think Gaetz gave a shit about lower spending. The GOP'ers passed all trump's spending bills. I think all he wanted was screen time. But, as the last 24 hours has proven, I could be wrong.

Gaetz wants to be Governor of Florida and wants Trump's support.

Trump wants Government to collapse prior to the election and for the country to fall into troubles because he believes that when the country is hurting they always look to change leadership, as happened to him during Covid.

So Gaetz is doing Trump's bidding so trump will support him for Governor.

Makes sense. trump hates DeSatan. Backing Gaetz for gov would be a trumpian type of revenge. The thing is - would Floridians be able to stomach Gaetz as Governor? With his past? I don't know.

Jeffries and the MAGAts. Should be fun to watch. I'm glad I bought extra popcorn today.

Common sense dictates the GOP majority would never let a Dem be Speaker. But - I was wrong about them ousting McCarthy. That would be something, though - the GOP voting in a Black Dem as Speaker? The Proud Boys would all commit hairy kerry. <-- yes, I know it's misspelled!

DeSantis is term limited out now with two consecutive terms. Florida would allow him to run again, after he sits out one term.

Common sense said the Republicans wouldn't throw their own party into chaos by ousting their own speaker.

The sane Republicans may think that the only way to kill the MAGAts in their midst is to elect a Democrat Speaker, regardless of skin-tone, and then flip it back after 2024. At this rate, IMHO, the Republicans are headed for a shellacking in 2024. Doing what's best for the nation by going against the Party of Trump may be their best shot to avoid an ass beating next year.

They voted on party lines. They would rather the House be shut down than the republicans be able to pass a working budget in 45 days, they think they can "blame it on the republicans"... however they voted to shut down congress today, every D in congress voted with 8 republicans to literally shut down work in the House of Representatives.
I guess Dems just decided to show unity. I thought for sure they would work with McCarthy if he made concessions.

But...he's been a proven liar who cannot be trusted. He's a trumper til death, which is indeed ironic today.

On the one hand, the next speaker will be more of a loon. On the other, McCarthy is a lying piece of shit who was just obsessed with holding the gavel.

I guess they opted to roll the dice on the new idiot. Nobody is going to work with Dems, and they will more than likely retake the House next year.

Here we are trying to inject a modicum of sense while discussing a senseless group of idiots.

Jeffries would never be the speaker, as then the Biden inquiry ends. Republicans will not control the House after next year. Honestly, I'm not sure what they have planned for the near future? Put the final nail in the Washington coffin?

Not all are idiots.

True, but most intelligent and sane people know the inquiry is a loser. Losing the House next year is their concern. Better to lose the House now and look sane for doing it then have a chance of winning it back next year. At this rate, they are headed for a massive loss in November 2024.

They are trying to salvage what they can while the MAGAts are continually dragging them down with a fratricidal war.

True. It just seems the idiots suck all the oxygen out of the room.

This was my original thought, but they aren't really losing the House. They lose control of what comes to the floor with a Dem speaker, but I believe they still control all of the committees and have the majority of votes.

"The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is a very old maxim. In the age of TV and the Internet, sound bites have been thrown into the mix. IMO, the people who are speaking calmly are most likely telling the truth and the people screaming with righteous indignation are most likely lying. Matt Gaetz was screaming a lot of righteous indignation today.

Agreed about committees. I'm not sure where the lines are drawn on the Speaker. In many ways it would likely be an impasse with Jeffries acting as a shit screener.

Unfortunately, McCarthy's deal to become speaker included the agreement it would only take one Rep to bring up the motion to vacate. Even Gaetz would have a say - that is unless the House expels Gaetz first - which I understand is a possibility.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ho...-renewed-threat-vacate-house-speaker-mccarthy

"House GOP members are preparing a motion to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., amid his renewed threat to pursue a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

The House Republican members will seek to expel Gaetz if the ethics committee report comes back with findings of guilt, Fox News has learned. One member told Fox News the report is mostly written but does not know what it contains. Yet following threats to vacate McCarthy, the member said of Gaetz, "No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals.""

Yep except for one thing, no one is dealing with Gaetz, they're dealing with whoever owns him now.

LOL- my "lies". Whatever fucktard. So - how was the self-blowing? Still at it?

Yes, your lies, stupid fuck

Ken Buck, Andy Biggs, Tim Burchett, Eli Crane, Bob Good, Nancy Mace and Matt Rosendale.

Is the woman you jack off to, Marjorie Taylor Greene on that list? Nope, you lied - you lie about everything. It's just your way.

Yep, it'll be another MAGA. But we've yet to see if the house will oust Gaetz. I don't think they will, but as my OP has proven - I can be wrong! I never thought the house would oust McCarthy - and I think the Dems voting him out was just an FU to the magas. The Dems know he'll just be replaced by another spinless trumptard.

ROFL

Where do you get the fantasy that "the house will oust Gaetz?"
