Ohio police shoot pregnant woman

Yes indeed that Italian penicillin is a little more delicate of an operation...;) and now I have green chili to add to the list of things to make... by now I usually have been able to get a big batch of Hatch Chiles that we roast but for some reason this year I haven't seen them in bulk... those are my favorites... I'll be on the lookout... those are so good in so many different recipes...
We have a grocery store here called Central Market it is a fantastic store with a WONDERFUL Vegetable and Meat and Seafood sections. I shop at Korgers for most things (cheaper) but go to Central Market for meat and vegetables. Central Market has a Hatch Pepper celebration every year. They have roasters at the store entrance roasting peppers right there.

BTW I have never tried to run down a cop at Krogers . Just saying....

I never even tried to run down that poor kid pushing all those carts back to the store in the rain. I am benevolent :)

Okra is native to Africa and was brought over by slaves, Not Europeans
Yes indeed and gumbo is a Cajun dish. Cajuns are mix between French Canadians Blacks and Indians. My grandmother was full blood Cajun and spoke Cajun. My moms elementary school in Louisiana would punish students that spoke Cajun in school because they wanted them to learn English. I still raise okra in my garden because it does well in heat and grows when other crops are already done.

Be honest, Arby.

You would,

but there aren't enough points awarded for running down a shopping cart retriever

to make it worth your while.

We have a lot of farmer markets here and a similar Market to your Cental called the North Market generally they're outside vendors do the hatch roast every year but I haven't seen it yet I'm going to have to check... Kroger's is our go to here as well for staples... people at our store would know better than to argue if they got caught shoplifting...
... the Krogers where the incident happened is in a much more suburban area... it's my belief that the cop may have overreacted because he couldn't believe what was happening...that she was argiung and trying to leave while he was standing there.. (I do not understand why number one... she was stealing... but number two why she didn't comply... unless it was the warrant and she knew that she would be going to jail ...) it's one of those things that should never have happened.... (I get most of my meat at Ohio State...;))

Nah. I look at it this way, the kid is learning to work. That is admirable. He could become manager some day. Managers are worth double points :awesome:

I always tip those kids with cards for free stuff... I still get donations from a number of different places......and I yell and shame the people who don't return their carts..

Oh my... I'm so sorry to hear about your mom... what a difficult time for you and your family... I miss my parents so much... even after so many years it's never easy without the people who gave you your beginning and a foundation to have a wonderful life... I might just throw a whole chicken in the pot the next time I make stock... I do use pieces on the bone... and backs and necks...and feet....;) if it's a special recipe and you've got other great tips please feel free to put them here... will definitely try the egg tip... if it works for ramen I'll bet it's great on Gumbo;)

Well she suffered with dementia but until her last 6 weeks she was able to live in her own home with my younger brother. She did have to move to a nursing home in the end and she was not happy but before that she was happy and she always knew who I was. I would give her Alexa video calls every few days and show her her great grand kids and that always got her motor revving. She was 92 when she passed. I was extremely fortunate to have her as long as I did. I always say I won the parent lottery when I got my parents.

If you want it spicy don't forget the tomatillos... Those green little nature wrapped oddity of a pepper add a necessary spice to the mix. I roast them on my smoker along with the other chilis I am adding. Jalapenos, habaneros, some hatch chilis... I like to roast some of the onions as well (not all though) as it adds to the smoky flavor of the chili. And I use chicken as well as pork for meat in the chili depending on who it is served to as I have friends who have 'no pork' requirements in their diets.

Heat of the moment.

Thank you!! We love tomatillos... and we always roast all the vegetables... that makes a huge difference... we also usually smoke the chicken and the pork... I think that makes it extra delicioso...lol..

Once, when I was on vacation, I witnessed something that I would never, ever see in Boston.

I will preface my comment by saying
that when we're on vacation,
we're NEVER at some rented cottage or bungalow
where we might cook some of our own meals.

That's not our kind of vacation,
not that there's anything at all wrong with it.

We're at a hotel, and we eat all of our meals out...
usually all dressed up for the evening one.

What brought me to a superette
is that it was right downtown
and I wanted some antacid tablets.

What I saw was a young store employee attempting to tackle a shoplifter.

I should have held my mouth
but I couldn't help it.

"Kid, do they actually pay you enough to pull a stupid stunt like that?'

The boy just looked at me stupidly.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your mother. My mother is 96 and has had stage 4 cancer for the last few years. She gets these cancer shots every month, and it's keeping it at bay.
She lives alone and does all her bills by herself. She is very independent. I take her to all her Dr. and testing appointments, the GF takes her to the grocery store. She likes riding in my Cobra. I take her to her favorite drive-in a few times a year.

In college I made some Chili con carni and I over did it with the Habaneros I diluted 5 times before it was edible. What do you do with 5 large pots of Chili? If you are in college you throw a Chili party.

Shit, I never thought of that.

.....and I yell and shame the people who don't return their carts..

I don't go quite that far,
but I will confess to always returning my cart to the designated cart corral.

My parents always did it when I was a kid,
and while I don't do everything that my parents did,
that little courtesy seems to have stuck.

Wayward carts can dent cars
bodywork is hideously expensive
and most people have a deductible.

I rarely extend effort
without having some sort of understanding
why.

It gives the kids jobs

I always scatter all the karts in the storage area around the parking lot.:awesome:
