Joke Biden e-mail shows direct collusion with son's business when VP

"I genuinely resent sharing the same atmosphere with them."?

Not to worry, old man.

You won't have to much longer.

Old Man Nifty:

"I want the same things as TDAK, volsrock, and Earl???"

"The exclamation mark, the ellipsis and the question mark have clear roles inside the English language, and you should trust them. Increasing the number of exclamation or question marks at the end of a sentence might appear to increase the overall emphasis, but in reality it just makes your text ugly and informal."

Stop writing ugly text, old timer.

OK, you're equating social conventions with regulations,
and they do have both similarities and differences, I think we would agree.

While we may agree that the country is in chaos, which is pretty obvious,
I tend to blame neither progressives nor conservatives.

I tend to blame totally incompatible people trying to share the same government.

It's nobody's fault that huge factions of Americans want totally different things.
My argument is with those who believe that in the end, we all want the same basic things.

I'm actually offended by that concept.
I want the same things as TDAK, volsrock, and Earl???
Hardly.
I genuinely resent sharing the same atmosphere with them.

I think that all of us want the best for ourselves and our family... so you might have to deal with a bit of resentment... as different as we are we find a way to converse... do we use dogs as a crutch we certainly do but so what? It's really just that basic... if you can do that then you can find a way to make things work for everyone... where does the blame lie? In the selfish people who refuse to try....

You dont like when Presidents lie?

All politicians lie. The good ones do it without getting caught. The average ones get caught, apologize, and tell a different lie. The hated ones get called liars even when they tell the truth. And... The stupid ones get caught, and then go right back to telling us the same lie, as if we hadn't figured it out...

It's that last sort, like Joke Bribem, that I don't like in particular. The others are at least reasonably smart so they aren't doing perpetual stupid shit then lying about it.

The transition to cattle car standards is the DIRECT fault of airline deregulation.
Yes, it IS political.

Conservatives don't like regulations.
People like myself believe that we have an insanely underregulated private sector.
That's a HUGE ideological disconnect.

The TSA bullshit is the result of the Islamist terrorism.

The American people let their fear make them sacrifice their convenience.

Here's another way in which I'm different
because I don't prioritize too many things over my comfort and convenience.
Maybe my family, including my dog, of course, but that's about it.

Correction: Reichwingers LOVE regulating some things: Uteruses. Drugs. What teachers can teach. People of color.

.. where does the blame lie? In the selfish people who refuse to try....

First of all, everybody on JPP knows my mantra:
There are no moderate solutions for grossly immoderate problems.

I seem to be the only one seeking the most immoderate [and admitted unlikely...for now]
solution of them all--partition of the Republic.

My motives are magnanimous.
I would like as many people as possible to have a government which they can at least somewhat respect.

We have two major factions with core values that are at almost perfect 180º poles.
What's more, the factions are approximately the same size.
Thus, we have but two possibilities, and they're both pretty bad.

We can have divided national government with the two chambers of the congress
and the Oval Office not all being controlled by the same party.
That results in total gridlock.
The values don't intersect nearly enough for compromise to be possible.
Everyone is always pissed off-like right now.

Or, we can have one political party control all three, resulting in one-party rule.
The opposition party is little more than decorative
since we live in an age of strictly party line votes.

I don't blame anybody for being selfish.
Both sides are very honest and sincere about totally incompatible values.

However, no matter which party is in control,
that leaves a full half of the country
in a permanent stage of rage.
Just what we need for domestic tranquility,

I gave up my religion when it stopped making sense.
America in it's current configuration now fails to make sense to me as well.

I'm not trying to convince anybody.
Even my kids are getting old
and I don't have grandchildren.
It becomes less of my problem every day,

I'm merely trying to help people understand my point of view
because it has been very thoroughly thought out.

God bless America?
Well, if God turns out to be real, I'd prefer Him/Her to bless a couple of them.

I dislike the more manipulative liars more than the simple liars, but I dislike them all. Often it depends on what the lies is about and the motivation.

God Bless America... and yes I believe that God is real ... and no... I don't force anyone to believe otherwise ...I'm watching the 9/11 ceremony now... half the country is always in a rage because they don't want to not be in a rage... we see perfect examples of that here on JPP every day... if your purpose in life is to go out of your way to not get along with others that kind of makes it impossible for others to get along with you... We both grew up in times where people had major differences in religious beliefs political beliefs social beliefs yet somehow we found a way to make things work.. that's because we learned how important it was for people to work together and get along... granted it was a perfect but then it doesn't have to be...But these days not only do people not even try to compromise anymore they do just the opposite... we see that everyday on JPP... Shining examples of pure evil, hate, and lies... until they change our country as we knew it is doomed.. I refuse to accept that it's going to be this way.
or Worse....forever...

Very good point.
Consistency is a problem with them.
Logic isn't valued much either.

...this one needs regulation don't you agree? Nothing inconsistent or illogical about wanting to put a stop to this kind of nonsense

But TOP,
this essentially means that it's not important to make as many people happy as possible.

I think it's a very big deal if women don't have control over their own reproductive systems.

Others think it's a very big deal if they can't own whatever kinds of firearms that they want.

I think it's a very big deal that we don't have a National Health Service like the UK's.

Others think it's a very big deal if they're not allowed to take a job without having to pay union dues.

These are not areas for compromise.
We're going to fight about these things forever
or we can go our separate ways and do our own thing.

My premise is that if we're not going to be imposing laws and tax codes on one another,
we'll get along better as citizens of neighboring nations
than we ever will as countrymen.

For me, remaining unified requires EVERYBODY to lower personal standards.

You're fretting unnecessarily...

My biggest fret today will be what to order for dinner when my brother gets into town.

Meanwhile, you righties will be obsessed with Hunter and what class he flew on for business. LOL
