Ohio police shoot pregnant woman

He didn't know Jeffrey Harris pointed a shotgun as police.

Police said an arriving officer encountered Harris pointing the shotgun at him a block away from the church from the entryway of a closed auto parts business. Officers arrested Harris at that spot, and Lozier said he had no information about why Harris left the area of the church or whether he was confronted there.
That's what I mean. An otherwise capable member of this board is absolutely blind when it comes to anything cop related.

I agree that people of color are often treated harsher than other minorities and that is an injustice that needs to be addressed.

Injustices by our government, regardless if they affect us directly or not, erode confidence in our government. Trust is earned and easily lost.

Tamir Rice. Dead in two seconds. This cop was fired from another force for incompetence.

Justice Department Announces Closing of Investigation into 2014 Officer Involved Shooting in Cleveland, Ohio

Although Tamir Rice’s death is tragic, the evidence does not meet these substantial evidentiary requirements. In light of this, and for the reasons explained below, career federal prosecutors with both the Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office concluded that this matter is not a prosecutable violation of the federal statutes.
Conclusion

In sum, after extensive examination of the facts in this tragic event, career Justice Department prosecutors have concluded that the evidence is insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Officer Loehmann willfully violated Tamir Rice’s constitutional rights, or that Officers Loehmann or Garmback obstructed justice.

You might want to read that a little more slowly. It's okay if your lips move.

Good we're agreed that Jeffrey Harris should have been shot dead as soon as he pointed a weapon at officers. :)

You cannot simultaneously show your ID and obey other confliciting orders.

A little bit of common sense should tell one to sit as still as possible and keep one's hands in plain sight no matter what else they tell one to do.

One can always show them one's ID later, after the situation has calmed down.

Why the media ignored female black cop Melvina Bogard’s shooting of unarmed white man Ariel Roman

Late last month, Chicago Police Officer Melvina Bogard was acquitted of felony battery charges in the shooting of an unarmed man at a Chicago train station in 2020. While a handful of local media outlets reported on the story at the time, the case received far less attention than most in which a cop shoots a civilian.

They are clearly not color-blind. LOL

BLACK COPS ARE JUST AS LIKELY AS WHITE COPS TO KILL BLACK SUSPECTS

"White officers do not kill black suspects at a higher rate compared with nonwhite officers," concludes a research team led by Charles Menifield, dean of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University–Newark. "The killing of black suspects is a police problem, not a white police problem."
