Ohio police shoot pregnant woman

You want to hold diminished, damaged people and paid public servants to the very same standard, TOP.

Unfortunately, we, in too many instances, can actually do that
because so many of our cops are also diminished, damaged people.
We've got ourselves to blame for that.

Thank the fates that my daughter's police department is less perverse than most.
The Spider-Man Rule applies:

I hold everyone to the same standards....I don't believe that this particular officer was a diminished damaged person, but I suppose that is possible...But in general, that particular police force is very well respected by the members of the community who rely on them.... but of course that doesn't guarantee that every member is without flaws....
That being said I have more experience when it comes to working with young people...and trying to get them to realize how they need to handle situations like this...
Being gangster is never the answer...not in public, not in school, not in the workplace, not anywhere... I'm sure that your daughter's force isn't perfect, either...but better than most...
Our little police force here is similar...small force, they know everyone...but that means anytime they stop someone, a portion of the community believes there's an ulterior motive behind it...they have to deal with a lot of unnecessary criticism, and occasionally it spills over into a mistake here and there...
Officers are human, as you know...It's not always the easiest thing when you're interacting with the public these days...

The Gestapo and I weren't the least bit thrilled with offspring #2's career choice--
we wanted her to be an entertainment industry publicist which she also tried with some success for a while--
but it seems to have worked out well so far.

She has two decades plus of seniority now.

But you support her...and obviously, that's all that's important...Your pride is obvious...and I'm sure she appreciates that...which contributes to her success...

Well, we got free live theater and concert tickets when she was a publicist.
I liked free tickets.
All I got from her being a cop was a concealed carry permit that I don't need!!!

The late Mayor Menino wanted to beef up the BPD's press release performance, which was woeful, and had her recruited,
but then she went to the academy and wound up in the domestic violence unit--
after a Summa Cum Laude journalism degree.

The fates have always been out to get me.
What can I do?

Free stuff is fun...and yes, tickets are more exciting than a CC permit...:) I think we've discussed this before...we're all here for a purpose...and Your daughter seems to have successfully found hers...You can be hardheaded about it, but I know you're proud... I know my parents, especially my dad, wanted to me come home and teach...as opposed to going in the direction I did...but even when they expressed a bit of disappointment, I knew they were proud...Fate isn't out to get you...you've got pretty much everything you love...If fate were out to get you, you'd be babysitting this morning...

‘Are you going to shoot me?’ Woman asks before Ohio police fatally shoot her

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — Footage from body-worn camera shows a pregnant woman asking police, “What, are you going to shoot me?” seconds before an Ohio officer fatally shot her outside a grocery store.

Blendon Township released body camera footage Friday from two police officers that showed the brief encounter with, and shooting of, Ta’Kiya Young, 21, who died later after being taken to St. Ann’s Hospital.

Young died August 24 after one of two responding officers shot her through the front windshield of a car, outside a Kroger whose employees claimed Young and others were stealing alcohol. The police department has declined to identify the two officers who approached Young’s car that evening, citing victims’ rights legislation called Marsy’s Law.

What was left out of the original story was that she tried to run over the cop who shot her. My thinking is if you have cops pointing guns at you, your best survival chances are to do exactly what they tell you. That way you live to fight another day.

Had she gassed it the cop would be dead. He was standing six or feet away, gun drawn of course since she was black.

Most of the criminals who don’t comply with police orders are black, Marty.

Why is that, Marty?

Poor Marty.

There's "tried to run over" and then there's illegally using an automobile to push a police officer out of the way. If she wanted to run over him, she'd have floored it.

My advice still stands. Don't want to get shot obey. In Nam do you think we would hesitate to fire if a prisoner refused to follow orders given by a translator? Cops are in the same boat.

Why shouldn't she? If she was innocent, it was an easy fix... she not only didn't cooperate, but she taunted the officers...
This took place in what is a very nice area/suburb in Columbus...but not long ago, in the same area, kids got on social media and advertised a party... took over an apartment complex pool, and a wonderful young man was shot, and lost his life...
Young people have to start making better decisions...this is not all about blaming the police...
Yeah she should have complied. If she didn't steal all she had to do was produce the receipt. Columbus is hardly the "racist South"

There isn't a difference between tried to run over and tried to run into a cop and being shot dead.

Soooo cops are at war with black people?

The cops escalated the situation into a fatal shooting. They knew what the woman looked like and had her face on body cam. They'd already run the plates per SOP so they knew who the owner of the car was, with picture, and where she lived. Why not let her run and pick her up when she's out of the car?

her car did not have a license plate on it u stupid fuck

that right there is enough to demand the driver exit the car...is it stolen? cops need to find out

She was accused of theft and in a car with no license plate on it.
