How much is it worth to keep Western Europe out of the hands of Vladimir Putin and his cronies?
Because that is exactly what is at stake here.
If you think Putin & co. would stop at Ukraine, you're taking a lot for granted.
That was almost certainly why Putin wanted Trump elected then reelected.
Trump was very vocal in his disdain for NATO and the possibility of pulling the US out of that alliance.
Once the US was out of NATO, Putin would have a free hand in Western Europe.
Especially with his puppet Trump in office here in the US, guaranteeing not a finger would be lifted in opposition.

Wrong. I don't think Putin gives a shit who's president. What Trump wanted was for Europe to pay their fair share for their own defense, not have the US subsidize it. That's fair and equal, and I agree with that. If that means Europe has to dismantle some of its overly generous welfare state and people there have to start working for a living, then too bad for them, deal with it.

Not buying it. The reason Russia can't take Ukraine is their military is marginally competent. Even before the US--and other countries--started dumping billions into that war Ukraine was holding its own against Russia. Neither side is particularly competent, and neither side can really hope to win. The war now comes down to attrition, and that is something Ukraine is at a huge disadvantage at regardless of what we supply them.
