ICEs are soo damn expensive for routine maintenance. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/routine-maintenance-on-a-ferrari-can-cost-more-than-some-new-cars/
And maybe you spend your time not thinking of reasons to hate liberals. It would do wonders for your mental health.
People are buying EVs because they're cool cars to drive. They're easier and cheaper to maintain. Less moving parts. Simple technology and more reliable. Cheaper to run, too.
Oh, and EVs good for the planet? Icing on the cake. Everybody wins.... Except you fucking MAGA morons.
A Rivian owner said his R1T electric pickup truck cost about $42,000 to fix after it was hit at a stoplight earlier this year, according to a report The New York Times.

Rivian replacement parts aren't mass-produced. $42K still seems high to me so I think we're looking at scarcity...of parts and authorized repair shops. And some scamming too. That repair shop has a golden ticket and it knows it.
I remember years ago agreeing to help someone repair the water pump on a Ferrari. Unbolt the AC compressor and move it out of the way, then the alternator, then the power steering pump, then remove the valve covers, then pull the pump out, after which you have to grind and collapse the rear bearing in this tunnel-like housing because you can't pull it with any kind of bearing puller...
No scamming. Rivian parts ARE mass produced. The problem is that they are expensive parts and require a specially equipped shop to handle them.

Have you tried to insure your Ferrari? How about your Rolls?
I had to work on my Mom's Kia Soul today. That was a joy. I loved every minute of it.
I miss the old days when you could open the hood and literally sit in the engine compartment while you were working on the car, with every part visible and accessible.
Ya I have heard about that, but I am thinking more along the lines of a car in the 70's (I forget which one) where the oil filter was almost impossible to change because the engineers and design teams forgot about that.
Changing an oil filter is not usually a problem.

That's a great thing. My Lotus Europa is that way. Four nuts and the back hood / bonnet is off. Sit on the transaxle as you work on the engine.

When my car breaks down it doesn't cost 42,000 to repair so I don't think they are cheaper.
And they certainly aren't cheaper in the dealership.
And waiting an hour for it to recharge isn't cool, it makes you look like an idiot.
And many problems a traditional car breaks down from can be fixed on the road, an EV can't unless you are towing a 1 ton battery behind you.
You are nothing but lies.
Because EVs can only be repaired by the dealer. Why would you think that?
No, it's because EVs can only be repaired by the dealer.I suppose because you want to.
No, it isn't. However, IF a repair is needed, I can do it myself. I don't need to repair it at the dealer. However, a new auto has repair and maintenance a couple of its objectives.
Not a factor. You do not ignore important factors like that.
A piece of shit car that constantly requires repair is NOT a good reputation. A car that can only be repaired at the dealer is NOT a good reputation. You want repeat customers and a good reputation.
That's right. You retool them. You do not build plants and assembly lines to throw them away after a year or 2.
The 429 Boss Mustang you had to loosen a engine mount and jack the side of the engine up to remove a rear spark plug.
Why should I embrace the tyranny you crave? Why should I embrace the perversions you crave? Why should I embrace the fear you crave? Why should I embrace the hatred you crave? And maybe you spend your time not thinking of reasons to hate liberals.
My mental health is just fine, thank you very much.It would do wonders for your mental health.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's a good one!! Let's see you shove THAT attitude past your typical Texas rancher!People are buying EVs because they're cool cars to drive.
Blatant lie. They are more expensive to buy and maintain. I can buy THREE brand new Subaru Imprezas for what I have to pay for a Tesla Model 3. EVs can only be repaired at the dealer. I can repair any gasoline or diesel car myself using commonly available tools. They're easier and cheaper to maintain.
So? The one moving part that counts is the wheels.Less moving parts.
They are NOT more reliable. Tesla has the highest recall rate of any car manufacturer.Simple technology and more reliable.
They are NOT cheaper to run. You still have to charge them and maintain them. You are essentially limited to freeways and cities.Cheaper to run, too.
EV's don't 'save the planet'. It doesn't need 'saving'. EVs require the open strip mining of lithium, and processing steps that can take YEARS before the lithium is ready to be shipped to a battery manufacturer. Lithium is NOT a renewable material. Lithium mining often uses tremendous amounts of sulfuric acid for processing. Acid that is left to leach into the soil. EV's must be charged. That requires the use of power plants that are typically burning coal, oil, or natural gas to produce power. Mandating EVs' would require far more high tension lines crisscrossing the landscape, AND the blight they are. It would also require many new power plants to be built, and the blight THEY are.Oh, and EVs good for the planet? Icing on the cake.
The tyranny of mandating or subsidizing EVs or any of it's required infrastructure is not a win. The limitations of the EV is not a win.Everybody wins.... Except you fucking MAGA morons.
Why not? They are expensive ICEs to repair in an accident. You picked a selective case and implied EVs are more expensive to repair.
