Putin's war is a year and a half old, he would have done that already if he could.

You need a refund on your history degree. Military power isn't just about bodies. It's about equipment, logistics, and resources. Putin doesn't have the industrial base or logistics to equip millions more men, because he hasn't put the nation on a total war footing. The last time Russian was on a total war footing was 1945, and Putin told Russian citizens this was a limited "special operation", and keeps promising that victory is just over the horizon.

Putin is afraid to take the risk of putting Russia on a total war footing because it would be an enormous political risk for him.

He is sending out screening forces but that's about it and Ukraine can't even get past them.

Because when families lose loved ones they tend to turn against a war.

Putin needs to keep the people on his side or as you said, he will be tossed out a window.

Now Russia has lost a lot of regular soldiers but it would be far worse if they didn't have the mercs on the front lines.

I haven't researched what their situation is since the "rebellion" however so this could change.

Information is kind of hard to come by in regards to what Russia is actually doing at any moment.

There is usually a month or two lag time before you can put a picture together.

And you think Ukraine has the ability to pump out equipment?

As I stated earlier, Russia has used less than 10% of their resources so far, Ukraine is relying on foreign donations at this point because they've expended all of theirs.

Russia hasn't even committed their newest fighters or tanks to the war yet.

They don't need to.

Eventually it will become to expensive for the west to keep supplying Ukraine, as we saw with Biden's cluster munitions gaffe, and support will dry up.

Then Putin will move in and broker a deal with them.

He is no rush to take Ukraine as it's a foregone conclusion.

Unless the west wants to go all in to help defend Ukraine, which they don't, it's just a matter of time of which Putin has plenty of.

They don't extend to other people.

If I ran a nation like Putin I would definitely hire mercs.

They want the paycheck and they would save my people from death.

It's not like the Ukraine war is similar to the Nazi's or Napoleon invading.
