"I believe Ukraine can win this war"

I don't know if he's right, but Ben Hodges, former commander of the US Army in Europe, says that Ukraine will push back Russian forces back to the February 23 boundary line by the end of this year.

Sounds right. Ukraine has a bunch of Russians trapped on the wrong side of a river and they can't get resupplied.

It seems like an optimistic projection to me,but the key is continuing NATO unity and flooding Ukraine with advanced weaponry and good Intel.

Former US national security adviser H.R. McMaster: 'I believe Ukraine can win the war'

In an interview with FRANCE 24 on Monday, former US national security adviser and retired lieutenant general Herbert Raymond McMaster said that Ukraine can win the war with Russia, remarking that President Vladimir Putin had already lost the conflict in a sense by not winning outright.

McMaster said the Russian military had proven to be a “Potemkin army” and said they would continue to face stiff resistance from Ukrainians backed by a united West.

This was two weeks into the war, when the rest of us did not see what was to come yet. We realized the Russian offensive on Kyiv was not going as fast as we thought it would, but McMaster seemed very optimistic.

Now we realize that McMaster is a very smart fellow. I can definitely see why trump fired him. trump hates smart, competent people, because they make him feel inadequate.

If things continue as they are going, he will probably be right. If Putin can think up a way to change things... But he does seem to be trapped on a road to failure at the moment.

Putin will never conquer and occupy Ukraine with what amounts to a peacetime Russian army. He actually thought Ukraine would just fold to his will. One of Vlad's only moves left is to order a full wartime mobilization of the Russian economy and institute a wartime military conscription. And that is a risk for him because he promised this was just a "special operation" which would be relatively painless to Russian civilians.

You are right. Wartime mobilization would be a full on disaster for Putin. Defeat would be a disaster for Putin. I do not see a fork in the road to disaster for Putin. Maybe there is a way for Putin to avoid disaster, but I do not see it.

In a political sense, Ukraine has already won this war.

In February 2022 Putin defined Russian victory as the conquest of Ukraine, the replacement of the government in Kyiv, and the demilitarization of Ukraine.

Those objectives will never be achieved.

Ukraine is too heavily armed to be conquered by Putin,
Ukraine will remain independent and oriented towards Europe,
Ukraine now has long term security guarantees from NATO,
and NATO had committed to eventually inviting Ukraine into NATO.

The only remaining question is whether Putin will be allowed to keep the thin sliver of land he now occupies along the shores of the Sea of Azov.

Ukraine had built up to being the largest military in Europe (if we are to accept that Ukraine is European), but the idea that they could beat Russia was always so out of touch with reality to be a likely lie.

Putin wasn't trying to win outright.

You can tell that by the small force he sent in.

Less than a 10th of his military.

He still hasn't committed more than that.

His plan is to drain Ukraine of resources and force them to capitulate.

"You will be neutral, you will be largely demilterized, and until you do as you must you will be rubbleized"

Bullshit, Tink. Putin send the Russian Army toward Kiev with their parade uniforms in tow.

He sent a very small part of his army in who were actually backing up mercenaries.

A full scale invasion probably would have prompted a larger response from the west which Putin didn't want.

Had Trump been in office either the war wouldn't have happened in the first place or Trump would have sent in troops ending it before it barely started.

It would be done with by now.

But Biden is weak.

He did not realize how rabidly the Failed American Elite Class hates Russia....he calculated that what he sent would be enough to get a deal.

Now he knows better, Russia is currently rapidly building its military and its military industrial capacity.

Their best friends the Chinese are doing the same.

...and they got their asses kicked. Funniest thing I've heard about war in years. LOL

The Trumpers whine about Biden botching the US exit from Afghanistan, but that's nothing compared to Putin's fucked up invasion of Ukraine.

And rapidly concluding that they have been betrayed by the West....as I was warning a year ago was going to happen.

The west never cared about Ukraine.

Nothing is going to change their other than Ukraine's assaults against the Russians living in their eastern territories and keeping Ukraine out of NATO.

The country will go back to normal soon enough.

And how is that working out for Ukraine?

They are running out of supplies and soldiers, Russia isn't.

Pretty good. They get to watch the Russians go home in body bags. LOL

Russia has to order ammo from Third World Shitholes.

Why do you always side with Russia against the West, Tink? What about America to do you hate so much?
