Enbridge to shutter pipeline after judge finds company trespassed on Native American

A federal judge has ruled that energy company Enbridge must soon shut down its pipeline, which was found to be trespassing on a Native American reservation.

U.S. District Judge William Conley ordered that Enbridge shut down its Line 5 pipeline within 21 days, and redevelop a new route within the next three years that avoids the current 12 mile route which crosses into the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa reservation in Wisconsin.

Judge Conley additionally ordered the company to pay the tribe a fee of $5.1 million for trespassing onto the tribe's protected lands.

Bad River Band filed the lawsuit in 2019 in an attempt to immediately shut down the pipeline, arguing it posed a risk in the event it ruptured. In 2020, a section of the same pipeline had a "damaged anchor support" that temporarily closed the pipeline.

Trash site

The pipeline that the Natives were complaining about is right next to their 'sacred' casino and just down the road from their 'sacred' fireworks "Big Thunder" sales site. Basically, the Indians, as usual were upset they weren't getting an unreasonable cut of the money involved and started whining about it. Fuck the Chippewa.

It is simply and factually their land. So the people that owned your house before you means you do not own it?

The state of Wisconsin built a highway across that reservation. Does that mean the Natives deserve compensation for a public good that they profit from?

Why should I do that. We all know you are a moron. :dunno:

"pew-pew-pew" indeed, my little chickadee. ;)

Care to provide the documentation that says EXACTLY as you say? Or are you (once again) inserting your personal opinions and viewpoints to replace FACTS.

Let me stop you before you continue BS'ing .... the LAND IN SOME SECTIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED SACRED, LIKE BURIAL GROUNDS. General land ownership comes from treaties signed in good faith with the US Gov't.

Got that bunky? Because you can stew in your knee jerk bigotry all you want....Enbridge violated part of the contract...that was noted in the 2019 lawsuit. The current suit is apropos to that, and the judge concurred Enbridge at fault, hence the ruling.

Fuck Enbridge, fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

Is in any contractual agreements, bunky? Otherwise, why would you stupidly try to compare a reality to a erroneous speculation?

Oh bullshit. The tribe was looking for a cut of the profits.

Look at Google Maps, among other sources you 'tard. It's all there for you to see.

I see so much fucking nonsense from Native American tribes about their land and the bullshit they pull that it makes for an automatic kneejerk reaction to any claim like this one they make.

For example, here in Arizona, the Gila River Tribe just outside Phoenix raised hell about the state wanting to build a highway adjacent to their reservation. Not on reservation land but adjacent to it. They claimed it was "sacred ground" and evil to build on it.

The had ZERO problems opening a casino, putting up dozens of billboards the state wouldn't allow on non-reservation land, and opening an outlet store mall next to that freeway when it was complete...

Native Americans are not some holier than thou bunch. They are greedy capitalists just like the rest of us. If I had to characterize them, I'd say they are worse in that respect than Whites--by far.

I wonder what their ancestors would make of the holy casino especially?

No, it's about asshole Indian tribes taking advantage of their apartheid status. If they want to be independent nations, then they should be. Having it both ways is just a form of capitalist exploitation.

I can respect the Hopi and Navajo for resisting putting in casinos and other "White" capitalist things for greed. Most tribes succumb to the temptation of the dollar in a nanosecond. I can respect the Navajo for slamming the Joke administration and their token Indian on his cabinet for trashing Navajo rights to land on their reservation in New Mexico.

Awesome. Now explain how you quoted me without me knowing it. I know who you are. Little bitch.
