Enbridge to shutter pipeline after judge finds company trespassed on Native American

A federal judge has ruled that energy company Enbridge must soon shut down its pipeline, which was found to be trespassing on a Native American reservation.

U.S. District Judge William Conley ordered that Enbridge shut down its Line 5 pipeline within 21 days, and redevelop a new route within the next three years that avoids the current 12 mile route which crosses into the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa reservation in Wisconsin.

Judge Conley additionally ordered the company to pay the tribe a fee of $5.1 million for trespassing onto the tribe's protected lands.

Bad River Band filed the lawsuit in 2019 in an attempt to immediately shut down the pipeline, arguing it posed a risk in the event it ruptured. In 2020, a section of the same pipeline had a "damaged anchor support" that temporarily closed the pipeline.

They agreed to let them build it through their land then they changed their mind to get a payday

Do you really think they didn’t get permission first?

This judge is an Obama appointee and an anti trumper and he violated ethics by not recusing himself from cases where his family held shares

No doubt he is getting a payday from the indians for this ruling

I did, chuckles. I also did a little further research on the subject. It seems that the Chippewa filed suit because the current Enbridge actions violated the water protection standards in the contract from 1992. This was filed in 2019. Look up when you when you and the dope you see in the mirror stop chuckling over how smart you see each other as.

:rolleyes: And this is why the MAGA factions in this country are being recognized as a cult more each day. You initially tries to assert/insinuate/allude to the Chippewa suit and financial win as a sleazy "cash out" ploy given the 30 year signed contract. What you left out (intentionally or otherwise) was the FACT that since 2019 the Chippewa filed suit regarding a violation of that contract regarding water safety. The current decision is apropos to that original suit.

Thus making the Chippewa pay out legal and justified by the courts. TFB if you don't like it....but I won't let you lie about it unchallenged.
