Companies sell to women and minorities too and having them on the team and inputting what is important to them and what works in selling to them matters.

I think the only group that thinks 'white males can do it all, no one else is needed' is white males. Sorry but alone as a group you are not better selling to women's interests and POC interests.

But beyond that, fine if you want to believe that, but companies, nor governments have to believe they are not stronger and better served by having diversity to address the issues of a diverse clientele or diverse society.

Newsom is appointing a short term temporary US Senator who will not be in the business of selling any goods or services for a commercial enterprise..
If I were a Newsom constituent, I would hold him responsible for appointing the very best available person for the job.

By declaring that the candidate will be a black woman for certain,
he is announcing that he's more interested in pandering to the pathetic, hypersensitive WOKE community
than he is in choosing the very best candidate,
which might or might not be a black woman.

If ethnic diversity turns out to not being the result of choosing the very best people available,
and I'm sot suggesting that this would necessarily be case,
that would rather clearly illustrate
that at least at that point time,
the various ethnic/gender combination are NOT equal in terms of having the talent required.

If we force ethnic diversity under that situation,
then we're fucking up, and rather stupidly at that.

I am a democratic socialist, lower case letters, not a reactionary conservative,
but the best approach to addressing diversity
is to be absolutely color blind.
The woke segment of progressive liberalism is an albatross around our collective neck.

FACT:
Books that have been banned in Florida include:

Biographies of Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente that Duval County admitted to removing from shelves for nearly a year, along with 177 other books from a collection of diverse books.
And Tango Makes Three, a picture book about two male penguins raising a chick.
Stella Brings the Family, a picture book about a girl with two dads.
When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball, pulled from open shelves temporarily after one person complained about it.

Booker Prize winner The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye

DESANTIS CLAIM:
The most books banned in any district in Florida in 2023 is 19 books, in Duval And St. Johns counties. The total across the state is 175 books removed.

FACT:
In 2023, to comply with new laws, some Florida schools were directed to empty libraries and cover classroom bookshelves. Teachers in Manatee County and Duval County were told they had to have each book in their classrooms reviewed before they could go back. Martin County removed dozens of books after they were objected to by one person.

In the 2021-22 school year PEN America documented 565 books banned in Florida schools. Some were banned permanently, others temporarily pending investigations. The result is the same: Students can’t access books. You can see how we define a book ban here.

DESANTIS CLAIM:
Florida has expanded African American history, including with HB7.

FACT:
HB7, known as the Stop W.O.K.E. act and officially called the Individual Freedom Act, is an educational gag order. Among other things, it prevents teachers from discussing advantages or disadvantages based on race. Discussion of systemic racism is considered “critical race theory” and not allowed.

“The bill’s provisions affect the state’s students, educators, and administrators from kindergarten through college, curtailing their freedom to teach, explain, discuss, or access information on a wide range of topics–rights enshrined by the First Amendment,” said Nadine Farid Johnson, managing director of PEN America Washington and free expression programs.

DESANTIS CLAIM:
Florida “has taken a stand against sexual material and pornography in the classroom.”

FACT:
No one is advocating for pornography in schools. Florida laws signed by DeSantis, however, are so broad they could sweep up a wide swath of books, including classics like Romeo and Juliet and To Kill a Mockingbird. Coupled with a recent directive to “err on the side of caution,” some schools are doing just that — with disastrous results for the freedom to read.

HIstory is the PROOF, not evidence, as evidence suggests this is not proven.

History provides everything you need to know and all you have to do is read any history book, DeSantis is not trying to block you from reading. This is not an item of dispute, The DixieCrats, were Southern Democrats who fought against the Dem party and split from it to join the Republicans as issues of women's rights and minority rights, increasingly became issues the Democrats pursued. They took over the Republican party as a new home to push their sexism and racism.

But look, i am happy that you acknowledge that this groups of southern white male racists existed even if you have no clue they left the Dem party for the GOp. It is a positive you acknowledge this massive base of white racist southern males in politics and when you get to Chapter 2 in the history books, that will complete the picture for you.

I want to cut to the heart of the issue to see if we agree or not as the core of the issue is not 'corporate one' around 'goods and services'. The same issues and reasons apply to serving ANY constituency whether a corporation trying to sell something or a Senate body or City Counsel serving constituents.

That core issue is that when you service LARGE DIVERSE populations, your management group is strengthened by having diversity within it that reflects the people they serve. That is true of corporations or gov't bodies.

Do you agree with that?

Secondly do you also agree that there is no such thing as a singular qualified person for any of these type government or corporate jobs? There will always be a significant number of persons of varying gender and ethnicity who can do the job and who are qualified to.

Do you agree with that?

So, you are claiming they switched in 48 when Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond (who Biden eulogized) lost. Yet, you have no evidence that they switched in 48. :dunno:

Thurmond's loss is only evidence that racism was dying in the South.



And you are unaware that it was classical liberals (conservatives) (repubs) that fought for, and achieved, the right for women to vote.

I don't agree with the first statement because the BEST candidate will do the best job for everybody, regardless of gender or ethnicity.
A racist of sexist will never be the best available candidate.

As for the second statement, whether or not there actually is one clearly best candidate, an honest attempt should be made to assess the very best candidate,
all various types of attributes being measured according to the honestly perceived priorities.

Having the authority, as Governor, to appoint a temporary senator who will vote on important bills in the US Senate,
the REAL important part of the job,
said Governor should appoint first and foremost
somebody he can trust to vote in line with the ideology
of that governor and the supporters who voted for her/him/it.

Public perception couldn't be less important.
Soon enough, the people will elect a Senator for six years.

It is irrelevant to consider gender and race for a second. It puts gender and race ahead of competence and ability. It puts marginally or completely unqualified people in positions where they produce a trainwreck rather than success.

So lets get granular.

Is it your view there is one singular best person for every job and that person can be determined and clear?

So if i am hiring a new Head of Marketing for World wide marketing for a Fortune 100 company, there is 1 single person who has the best resume for it and that is factual? You won't have numerous 'top people' each with different strengths and weaknesses, and the Board will have to make a CALL as to what they think is best.

Is that your view?

Which is the lie white men who dominate most areas ALWAYS tell themselves.

We see overwhelming white GOP men, voting for the most restrictive womens health and abortion laws in State and City governments where even white GOP women who are very anti abortion are breaking from them and voting the other way. These laws are increasingly being pushed by force by overwhelming white male votes. They just think they know better about what 'women actually need' in terms of health care access and do not care what women think on the issue, just as you do not.
