Newsom’s vow to appoint a Black woman to the Senate

I support my fellow Democrats, but choosing both the gender and the race of an appointee
as a requirement
rather than appointing the best possible candidate willing to take it
is wrong no matter who does it.

The constituency has already elected Kamala Harris to serve as a California Senator.
That was an excellent choice,
and when the best candidate happens to be a black woman again, that's the candidate that they'll choose.

There's no need for Newsom to choose anybody other than the genuinely best person that he can get,
and if that's actually a black woman, then go for it.

That is not how it works though, as that assumes there is always a singular 'best' for a job and that is just not the case.


For instances a goal of a job can absolutely rightly be to broaden the experiences within the company to include groups not represented prior. So a marketing company in the 50's who has a broad business selling across all segments might decide THEY would benefit from having more qualified women on their team instead of just the 50 white guys they currently have. What that DOES NOT mean, is that as they go out and seek qualified women candidates only, that those women are less qualified than any male candidate. It is likely there are numerous people with the qualifications and skill sets to do the job.

So for a company to go out and seek a woman as it will IMPROVE their business , by broadening the experiences of the team, is in no way something wrong to do.
 
It is clearly both sexist and racist to proclaim that you will appoint someone based on gender and race to a position, whatever it may be. It is also likely, that Newsome's choice will be a lop retard of an idiot, much like Maxine Waters and Eric Swalwell, for example--they being from California also--are, among other Democrats.

The Biden Administration is the most unqualified in the history of the United States... the most diverse though so what does that tell you? How many examples do you need including the recent head of the FAA? Oh wait...

When you speak of unqualified, you must always refer to the number of trump administration people who have been fired, indicted, gone to jail or are under investigation. Trump hired those loyal to him, and qualifications for the position meant nothing.
Of course you remember another of trumps promises that he would hire only the best. Look what that got us. Donald was the best thing to ever happen to trial layers.
