After randomizing questions about worries about the economy, Covid and questions about their own mental health because of the crisis, the questions always end with:


One last question has a doctor or other healthcare provider EVER told you that you have a mental health condition?

Basically, you are asking questions that will make one group more worried and then asking them if they have a mental condition after you have them all worked up. Because the question was not asked in a random fashion, you can't really use its results the same way you can with the other questions.

Edit- Pew recognizes this because they don't include the question in their report. You have to dig into the data to find it.

It's not there, but linked from the page I listed. There's nothing in all 5 pages of your link that shows it.

We in the mental health community are also more likely to vote Democrat because Republicans don't take very good care of us. They want to cut funding that gets us needed treatment and lets us live comfortably. They side with Big Pharma when prices become more than we can handle. The reds do basically nothing to help those in the mental health community. So if any of what T.A. posted was real, I'm telling you why. I doubt any of it passes the sniff test though.

Let's say for the sake of argument that the results are correct. The conclusion of the OP is completely idiotic. Here's what I see. In general, women are more likely than men to seek help for any mental issues. Younger people are also more likely to seek help than older people. And finally, liberals are MORE LIKELY TO SEEK HELP THAN CONSERVATIVES. Duh. Liberals tend to be willing to self reflect and admit they need help. Conservatives are tough guys.

Now that I have had time to dig into the actual survey, it reveals that your original source is lying about the results.

There was no question asking for liberals/moderates/conservatives.
The question was:
PARTY In politics today, do you consider yourself a:
(ASK IF INDEP/SOMETHING ELSE (PARTY=3 or 4) OR MISSING:
PARTYLN ) - As of today do you lean more to:

Republican, Democrat, Independent, Something else, No answer, Lean Rep, Lean Dem

So far we have your source not providing the full question that was asked and then not using the political leaning responses that were asked.

I haven't dug into the deep parts but according to the top line results only 18% of total respondents said they had EVER been told they had a mental condition. The numbers in the graph would seem impossible unless the majority of those surveyed were over 65 or "conservative". But they didn't ask who was conservative so that can't be true.
