Daniel Penny charged with manslaughter in Jordan Neely’s subway chokehold death

If anybody takes the time to think about this rationally had there not been true concern for the welfare of the other passengers in the car Daniel Penny would not have stepped in to try to diffuse the situation... those who think the offer of a granola bar would have done the job are delusional... it was 2:30 in the afternoon... was Mr Neely having a psychotic episode because of the self-medicating drugs he was taking? One of the important questions to be answered...

You're fond of accusing others of being "hangry" -- maybe the disturbed young man was hangry for real? It's good to see who's okay with killing disruptive ppl on public transportation though. If he had been a pretty young white woman having a public breakdown, and a black veteran choked her to death, you and pEarl and the rest of you haters would be OUTRAGED.

Now go cry some more about how replying to your nonsense is posting to "harass." Weeport, Toxic, weeport! :rofl2:

I don't know how much of a threat it could have realistically been, given that Neely had no weapons other than apparently some trash he was throwing around. What I do know is that people are restrained, including by trained law enforcement, without being intentionally rendered unconscious. Penny chose to restrain Neely in the manner that he did, which is inherently reckless.

Flight attendants are called upon to restrain unruly passengers more often than subway riders are. Yet they manage not to kill them.

Indeed.

If the thug had been White and the person who stopped the threats had been Black, Phantasmal would be singing a different tune.

The Mujer de boho too.

Their replies are just personal attacks using talking points from who knows where ...at this point they're not even thinking and responding about what actually might have taken place...

I'm not excusing Penny's behavior I'm attempting to explain his behavior which could ameliorate any penalty. Neely had physically assaulted people in the past, he is the dangerous weapon. People familiar with him likely weren't willing to wait for him to move last threatening. The system failed neely and the public by their REFUSAL to act decisively.

Indeed.

The mujer de bujo is posting about 5’ 105 lb. Flight Attendants restraining 6’ 230 lb. violent male passengers.

The attacks on aircraft’s are usually stopped by one or more 6’ 230 lb. make passengers.

Looks like some largecmakes subduing the thug.

If New York was doing their job he wouldn't have been on the subway... so many people were aware of his problems and didn't insist on handling it properly...

I just did, see post no. 139, pobre mujer de bujo.

Groan for me, pEarl, groan!!!

Every situation is different... and we don't have all the facts about this one but hopefully the particulars will be made available to the public... and as we said, their responses are strictly personal attacks at this point...

Well, no.

The reckless action was by the thug (arrested more than 40 times, attacked a woman by hitting her in the face) by his threats of violence.

The Marine is a hero and one less violent loon is threatening riders on the NYC subway.

May 5, 2023 — Two years after the assault on Baltazar, Neely was once again arrested for punching a 67-year-old female in the face as she exited the New ...

Jordan Neely was on NYC’s ‘Top 50 list’ of homeless people with urgent need for help before subway death

Like I said, people are restrained without unnecessarily dangerous submission holds every day. Penny knew exactly what he was doing. He held Neely in the submission hold until he lost consciousness and then immediately rolled him into his side. Neely did nothing to warrant being killed and he's only dead because of Penny's decision to restrain him in an unnecessarily dangerous way

Penny had no weapon. He restrained Neely until authorities arrived.

Nonsense,

Neely was a thug who had a history of threats and attacks on passengers. He was making threats to passengers on the subway.

A brave Marine veteran stood up and stopped the thug, something that few on the left would do.

It is telling when the far left always stand up for the thugs in our society.

Where's the toxicology report for one thing? If he was hungry why wasn't he just asking for food or a couple of dollars in a non psychotic manner?

Correct. He restrained himby using an unnecessarily dangerous submission hold, which killed Neely. Submission holds aren't the ONLY way to restrain someone, it's just the method that Penny chose and that unnecessarily dangerous decision is why Neely is dead.

Yep Penny stepped up when others would stand around and watch. Unfortunately, his method of "standing up" was unnecessarily dangerous and ended a human life.

What restraint holds do you suggest?

If Neeely had not threatened the passengers and fought the restraint by the brave Marine veteran, he would be alive today to threaten and possibly kill others.

The young Marine veteran is a hero, Ask the passengers who were there who the thug is and who is the hero.

People who are afraid to stand up to death threats usually end up dead.
