Because "abortion" is a EUPHEMISM for murder. Just like "Pro-Life", for example, is a euphemism for abortion.

Murder is not defined by law. It is the intentional and offensive taking of a human life. It is killing with premeditated malice. The word first appeared in the English lexicon around 1200. It has always meant what is defined here.
Penalties for murder are defined by law. In some places some forms of murder are legal, such as abortion. I have already given a list of states where some forms of murder are legal.

But it IS murder, nevertheless.

Since you have never read the Bible, you do not know the teachings of God and Jesus Christ, who put high value on human life, from in the womb to the elderly.

Right. So we have no idea if your god considers abortion to be murder...or if your god condemns abortion.

In any case, as I noted...the word abortion is not mentioned in the Bible. It could have been...but was not.

But I am not so sure it is the Christian position. Some Christian sects/denomination condemn it to the point of almost exclusion.

I am not ignorant.

If you could point to anyplace in the Bible where the word "abortion" is mentioned...you would have done so.

It is NOT MENTIONED...which is what I have said.

It is mentioned elsewhere...so why was it not specifically mentioned if it is condemned? Why do people have to pretend that other comments apply to abortion?

There are extremists on both sides, unfortunately...There are also people who are fine with it at any stage....for any reason...there are people who use it to select a gender...there are people who think a Down's Syndrome child doesn't deserve a chance to live...
I think the laws are meant to send the message that people should consider adopting "everyone's position" as a goal...600,000 plus abortions a year is a horrific statistic...one that everyone should want to see drop sharply... If a woman doesn't want children, it's not terribly difficult...
