Well, this little anecdote is not really surprising coming from a vacuous moron. But I have some tips for you. I drive a popular and very common make and model pickup truck. And evidently the color is also very popular even though I picked it because it was the last one on the lot. So it is not uncommon for me to exit a supermarket and see at least one other identical vehicle in close proximity to mine. But in 50 years of driving, I have NEVER gotten into the wrong vehicle (full disclosure, I HAVE locked my keys in the car twice. That was costly and embarrassing). And I will now tell you how you too can never have to experience this again.
1) My truck won't start WITHOUT the remote or "clicker" as you call it, so I change the battery every year whether it needs it or not.
2) I have no idea what kind of retard rig you have, but my remote has a physical key to at least unlock the door if the battery is dead, SO I
ALWAYS LOCK MY TRUCK, EVEN IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY.
3) Even your remote should have a panic button on it, push the damn button and then push it again when the horn goes off, (This is assuming the battery in your remote is good).
4) I have a couple of distinctive stickers on my back window that immediately identify my truck in the herd. I have taken the liberty of making a couple suggestions that I'm sure you will find to your liking (no accounting for taste).

5) Situational awareness. Look it up.
