Colleges Should Be More Than Just Vocational Schools

College degrees are the door opener for many jobs.
Some degrees are, others are not. A Liberal Arts degree does not open the door for any jobs.
They will not talk to those without degrees.
A lot of businesses will talk to you without a degree, even large ones. You can also start and run your own successful business without a degree.
The fact is graduating from college shows some intelligence and a work ethic.
It shows neither.
You had to put in the work and follow the prof's orders.
Which only shows that you mindlessly follow the orders of another. You have no mind of your own.
People like you like to spend time cut and pasting as well, further showing you have no mind of your own.

True for many jobs, but not for all good jobs. Not everyone wants to be an accountant or a fucking lawyer. :D

Agreed, but so does completing any program of training including a four-year stint in the military.

You do not need a degree to be an accountant.
You do not even need a degree to be a lawyer (whether he fucks or not). All you have to do is pass the Bar exam.

So college is merely knowledge accumulation. You can get that at the local public library can't you?

Nope, never said it was just knowledge accumulation.

If you wish to learn organic chemistry (including the lab), calculus, physics, Russian, etc. all by yourself, I guess you could do it on your own at the library. How successful do you think you would be?

You can get it anywhere. Examples:
* driving a race car
* building a house
* working in a whorehouse
* driving a truck
* installing a septic system
* learning to be a successful brain surgeon
* starting a business
* being successful at business

Don't need college for any of it other than the brain surgeon.

Yep, the same person that claims there was no election in 2020 and that guns cannot be regulated is the same person who claims they taught themselves how to read and write.

Does anyone see a pattern of mental illness here?

I firmly believe that Sybil has major psychiatric issues. Not a psychiatrist, but my guess is paranoid schizophrenia.

Blatant lie. Don't try to deny your own posts. Anyone can go back and read them.
If you wish to learn organic chemistry (including the lab),
No college needed.
calculus,

If you happen to live in Russia, fixed your tractor, and farmed the land, and used math to figure your yield, you have used physics, organic chemistry, used calculus, and learned Russian. And he's successful. He got his tractor fixed, grew his own food with it and probably some surplus he can sell, and naturally speaks his native tongue fluently.

If you happen to be a Russian immigrant to the States (other conditions being the same), he is even more successful.

You literally said

"By the time one enters college, that’s as smart as they’re going to get. They may accumulate more knowledge, but that’s a different matter."

We can agree hard sciences may need college but not lesbian dance theory. Or anything known as (fill-in the blank) Studies. As far as success at any of those, college is no guarantee of success.

Exactly. Only being a surgeon

Only four states allow a person to take the bar exam without attending law school. Those require an apprenticeship.

No science requires a college degree. Science is not a degree, certification, license, or any other sanctification. Science is a set of falsifiable theories. Nothing more.
You are otherwise completely correct. College is no guarantee of success. Indeed, success can certainly be obtained without any college at all.

An 'apprenticeship'???? A lawyer apprenticeship???????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA! You REALLY like to make shit up, don't ya?

You type the dumbest shit. You create your own reality. It is sad. The need for a degree has actually gone up. They find a degree candidate is more "work ready'. The made-up world you live in is in conflict with reality. https://www.flexjobs.com/blog/post/...ire a degree when,than those without a degree.

You advocated communism. It is no assumption. It is YOUR STATEMENT.

Pivot fallacy. I see you are STILL advocating for communism.

Answer the question. Unless you paid for your kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools you were also "advocating" for communism (in your lame definition) by taking advantage of that education.

Since we all know you did not pay for your education you are a hypocrite for accepting all that communistic education for free.

As usual, you have no evidence to support your lies. Try doing some research before you lie. A college education would have come in handy for someone who denies facts without even bothering to learn the truth. Google is your friend.

I said hard sciences MAY need college.
