Short Circuit

It's quite simple. "Woke" simply means being aware of injustice and racism.

The reason for the GOP to add and add more to it remains a mystery. They literally destroy what "woke" means. It no longer means anything.

You googled it. She probably should have as well. Also, that is simplistic and silly considering how much conversation happens around the word.

Often "woke" begins with the idea that everything stems from you white folks being privileged, and in some ways seems to tell certain folks that they cannot even participate in the discussion.

If -everyone- knew what "woke" means, it wouldn't be hard to define it, would it?

Without google you would have had trouble as well. Personally the people who pretend that Biden's dementia isn't a thing shouldn't mock some young woman for being unprepared for a question during an interview.

Maybe she should have diverged into a story about how little kids love to rub her hairy legs or something, you'd have felt she was a genius then.

Is that what you think "woke" means? White privilege? White people cannot participate in the discussion?

What I think it means has little to do with you mocking this young woman for being unprepared for a question during an interview. If you want a discussion on what folks think "woke" is in a larger context than the simple google definition you cut and pasted, then start a thread on it. Here we are discussing how this young woman was unprepared for what appears to be a single question during a much longer interview.

I was not mocking her. I was simply asking how she could have not known to define "wokeness" when, as you, yourself, stated that "everyone knew" what it means.

I didn't say that "everyone knew" I said (quoting here) "I think she thought..." in that I do believe that she thought exactly what I said following those words.

What I didn't say was "everyone knew".

I think the question was very reasonable, and the young woman should have been prepared for it.

You cannot tell what her beliefs are from this video

Yes we can...very clearly we can tell what her beliefs are.

"Woke", in the pejorative, describes any cultural war grievance Conservatives have.

The reason Mandel couldn't articulate that is because it's a shitty fucking thing to believe, and she knows it.

So, my guess is you are just assuming something about her and profiling based on your limited ability to guess what she believes.

Well unlike you, I actually do the work to know what I'm talking about, having read Mandel's trash for years.

Well it no longer means anything to Conservatives; it's just a catch-all term like "political correctness" to dismiss away the systems of oppression they are too afraid to take on because every single Conservative is a fucking coward.

if there is a video of your meltdown, please send it to me ROFL

You're a fucking pussy and you know it.

Just a big mouthed coward who hides behind the shadow of anonymity JPP provides you.

You would never ever act on any of the bullshit you say here, and I know that to be a fact because you've sat on your fat ass for the last 40 years and did nothing as the government overreached into people's personal lives.

Like a little fucking BITCH.

That's all you are...a LOSER.

Defining WOKE is a constant conversation here, it is too new of a concept to have an established definition, which is fine.

I think she thought pretty much everyone involved knew what "woke" was

No, she didn't think that at all. She thought she had it all figured out, but then when asked very simply to define the entire premise of her argument, she cracked and fell apart.

So that says to me that she doesn't really believe this shit; she's just cynically trying to cash in on it because she has no other marketable skills.

This is nothing new with Mandel, she's been pulling this shit since the days of the teabaggers.

How hard is it to define "woke" if you know what it means?
MAGAs have been feigning outrage about wokeness for months, but if they get this tongue tied trying to define it, then obviously it's just a buzzword rightwing media personalities have ordered them to feel angry about.

Well unlike you, I actually do the work to know what I'm talking about, having read Mandel's trash for years.

I don't believe you've ever read any book that doesn't fit within your political viewpoint, let alone all of this persons books and/or articles (multiples) "for years". It's possible you googled the person and read about her, but you've given no indication this is the case, so far all you've given is assumption and blather. I imagine you thought we'd believe that you actually have spent hours reading everything she ever wrote, entertained thought about it then made a dermination?

I call bullsh*t. On this site you have actively worked to demonstrate that you have no ability at all to entertain any idea that doesn't fit within your own limited viewpoint even to simply disagree with it. You actually have actively shown the deliberate inability to actually absorb and understand actual facts that do not fit inside your limited view of what "should be".

I personally do not believe that you have seen or read more than the 30 seconds of this video in regard to this person.

(I know I haven't).

You can mansplain some more about how awful everyone who doesn't think like you is. I'll give you the last word and you can pretend you "won". Work real hard and you might even convince yourself.

I will bet she will fix that in future interviews (if she subjects herself to more of them after her experience here). Writing something is much different than being interviewed about something. Some folks have a hard time thinking off the cuff. As I said, I would advise her to prepare for that question in the future so she can avoid this.

If you can't explain the premise of the book you wrote then that means you either didn't write the book, or you don't believe any of it.

Some folks have a hard time thinking off the cuff.

Mandel has been in this game for at least 20 years.

She didn't seem to have a hard time running her mouth about other things when Bush the Dumber was President, or the teabaggers were stapling teabags to their faces and holding up racist pictures of Obama while screaming about the debt their guy Bush doubled.

As I said, I would advise her to prepare for that question in the future so she can avoid this.

She wasn't prepared to define or defend the premise of her book probably because she didn't write it.

That's really the only explanation that makes any sense.

Maybe you can mainsplain to her what wokeism is, I'm sure she'd thank you for it.

I'll just let Ron DeSantis' AG mansplain it:

“The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them"

Hard to find controversy in that.

You googled it. She probably should have as well.

SHE. WROTE. A. BOOK. ABOUT. IT. (SUPPOSEDLY)

If she has to Google it after supposedly writing a book about it, then something is seriously wrong.

I'm starting to think she didn't even write that book she's promoting.

Also, that is simplistic and silly considering how much conversation happens around the word.

Ron DeSantis' AG defined it perfectly in court:

“The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”

Why was it so hard for Mandel to say that?

Often "woke" begins with the idea that everything stems from you white folks being privileged, and in some ways seems to tell certain folks that they cannot even participate in the discussion.

Maybe it does with you because you're defensive and identify with the horrible, racist people who have imposed these systems of oppression since the country's founding.

Of course, "woke" was defined in court by Conservatives as " “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”

So...you would argue there are no systemic injustices in America?

Or are you arguing that there are, but they shouldn't be addressed?

woke is the same as obscene. like a former chief justice said once, "I may not be able to define it, but I know what it is when I see it"

Woke was defined in court by your Nazi pals as “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”

So do you disagree that there are systemic injustices in America?

Or do you agree there are systemic injustices, but disagree on addressing them?

Without google you would have had trouble as well. Personally the people who pretend that Biden's dementia isn't a thing shouldn't mock some young woman for being unprepared for a question during an interview.

Maybe she should have diverged into a story about how little kids love to rub her hairy legs or something, you'd have felt she was a genius then.

I don't know why Mandel didn't just say the same thing DeSantis' AG said in court: “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”

Do you disagree with the premise there are systemic injustices, or do you think those injustices exist but shouldn't be addressed?
