The city hadn't "fallen" when you posted this and still hasn't according to current reports but apparently is on the verge with fighting now in the streets. The news reports don't sugar coat unlike the propaganda some prefer.

I suggest that the ' sugar coating ' is found in the reports that the Zelenskies are still trying to hold the city.

Still- each to his own.

The Russians have left one road open for the defenders and inhabitants to leave- and urged them to take the opportunity.

Bakhmut is just a town of 73,000 and isn't very strategically important. Russia has put a max effort to take it and is having a very rough time of it. I expect Bakhmut to fall but not Odesa which is much more important.

Qualified commentators state that Bakhmut will be strategically important for arms/ammunitions/supplies depots and troop assembling as the Russians move towards their next objective.

What do your sources claim that the next objective will be ?

Bakhmut is in range of HIMARS I hope Russia tries to move munitions through it. :laugh: Bakhmut is a morale booster for Russia but not much more.

The Wagner founder is on TV- showing the truck-loads of fallen Zelenskies in body-bags, praising their bravery and asking the retreating Zelenskies to take them back with them.
It seems that all the Western reports are at least two days late as these preparations do not take place in battle.
 
MacGregor saying that there are credible reports that 20,000 Polish soldiers are in Ukrainian uniform is interesting.

Yes I'm sure the Wagner founder failed to mention all the dead Ruskies that died trying to take Bakhmut.
