We've had a lot of discussions about the dumbing down of education in America. In that vain, does the elimination of standardize tests help improve educational quality and achievement? Or is it a form of dumbing down?

The University can't accommodate everyone. Standardized testing provides a level playing field for basic admissions requirement..Test taking should not determine ones ability to spend 4 years at a university toward a degree.

Did he say it was exclusive to Columbia? You are truly ignorant beyond words:
As the college application process picks up steam for the upcoming academic year, a new survey shows that more than 80% of U.S. bachelor-degree granting institutions will not require students seeking fall 2023 admission to submit either ACT or SAT standardized exam scores.
Yes we shall see if their academic standards improve or not. A good metric might be how many freshmen wash out.Yet Columbia disagrees with you.

My insinuation? You sure are daft. That was your insinuation, my dear. If you had a brain you would have noted that almost all schools do that today. So fuck off.

Columbia has a 97% retention rate for 1st year students. The national average is around 75% so what ever Columbia was doing must be working. That's the argument behind the tests, they help identify the students most likely to succeed. Because if you put a kid in a situation above their ability there's a good chance you are setting them up for failure. So like you said, the schools will know how many kids they allow sans testing that wash out and how it compares to their historical averages.

They have to have some metrics for admission. Not sure what you mean. Columbia is not using open admissions.
You really need to learn how to use GoogleWhere did you get that statistic from?
