This thing should have been noticed, and shot down before it ever reached the Aleutian Islands and entering our airspace.

This thing was first noticed from a commercial airlines flight flying over Montana, where the pilot took a photograph of it and turned it over to the proper authorities.

If our military does not have this kind of surveillance capability of our own in place- WE BETTER GET IT! WAKE-UP CALL!

Again, if it were safe to bring it down, we'd do it. There's obviously something "the powers that be" don't want us to know. The Chinese know we'd want to intercept it - so there's got to be some kind of safeguard/self-destruct system on board. That's my "educated" guess.

Then what was the shot that the woman in Billings recorded? It was almost certainly a missile launch and it sure looked like a high altitude detonation. That would make it a SAM.

I don't know what that woman filmed nor do I know if the video is even real. I don't lurk in the dark conspiracy theory sewers of the internet. There is a zero point zero percent chance that something was shot out of the sky with a missile in MT and no media outlet on the globe is reporting it. Are you claiming that there were two balloons or that the Atlantic downing was fake? You aren't making any sense.

How do you know that? China did not want it to happen. We did not shoot it down because the balloon and crap it carried would be dangerous as it fell to the ground. Once it hit the ocean, it was fair game.

Both the Navy and USAF have computer software that predicts the driftdown of parachutes in order to locate downed aircrews. Putting a hole in the balloon and letting it settle in the ocean would be easy. Recovering it could be done with a cover story of "it was destroyed".

Shooting it over the US shoreline and letting it drift over the ocean would be both legal and safe.
