That one doesn't look fake, and it does look like a missile launch with an intercept. As I stated, it could be as much as 500+ miles from Billings due to the high altitude at which it occurred. That optical illusion as to distance is common with such things. Here in Arizona when White Sands Missile range or Vandenburg CA launches a missile to high altitude, it makes the news as people freak over the smoke trail that can be seen. In both cases the launch site is over 400 miles away.
The US has ABM defenses in Alaska among other places, or might use a Standard SM-3 from a ship. Both have ranges on the order of 500 miles to an intercept. So, depending on where the intercept actually took place, you could be seeing it in Billings while the actual site was say over Washington (state) or British Columbia Canada.
