Good-bye, Classroom Libraries

When you can't read a paragraph from a library book at a public school board meeting because "this meeting is broadcast and children might see it" the book contains pornography and should not be in a school library.

Sad you promote that filth being available for children..

BTW if you think it is fine to provide that garbage to children how could you think it was a 12b.

Then remove the Bibles.

By providing K-12 scholars with rich, culturally relevant pedagogy and high quality books that deepen scholars’ understanding of themselves and all they have in common with others in a multiracial, multicultural democratic society, CDF Freedom Schools programs further empowers scholars to believe in their ability and responsibility to make a difference while instilling in them a love of reading to help them avoid summer learning loss.

Hyperbole is not a good look for you, nor for anyone else who believes in the freedom to read, to learn, to stretch one's horizons, to venture to another level of imagination and thought.

My parents believed that reading was truly fundamental, and our home was well-supplied with books and periodicals as well as the daily newspaper. We watched the local and national news together every night before supper. Mom drove us to the library every two weeks (when borrowed books were due) to check out more books. Before I was of an age of double-digits I'd read the terrifying books "Alas Babylon" and "Hiroshima." Later I read "Grapes of Wrath," "1984," and other classics. As the 60s progressed and unrest grew I was able to read both the current news about the issues, and see it on TV as well. There was no censorship in our home.

Reading and being taught critical thinking and having my concepts challenged at home and at school made me the liberal that I have been my entire life.

And that right there is why fascists like you and DeSantis and others want to restrict what children learn in public schools. It has NOTHING to do with "CRT" or "grooming" or all that other nasty sexual shit you all are obsessed about.

You are terrified that children will learn that this world is filled with interesting, different, wonderful people -- and that that's okay.

Read my sig line, dinosaur.

Those who forget their history are condemned to repeat it?!!

And that's why the Reichwingers cry about the removal of a Confederate statue -- and cry about the history of slavery being taught in public schools.

I'd like to see the list of books Desantis banned.
I'm not going to be upset if Turner Diaries are on there, but holy rollers have a history of trying to get Harry Potter banned!

Florida already passed a law banning any schools or employers from presenting information that might make some white person feel guilty or bad. In other words, STFU about the extermination of native peoples, slavery, treatment of immigrants to America, racism, the KKK, and no punishment for calling your hated coworker the n-word or posting racist cartoons on the lunchroom bulletin board.

Like my home growing up and now.

Our library was always filled by kids either doing school research or just doing light reading, specifically in the winter time

Worlds were open to us

“It’s a very sad day that any citizen can challenge a book and keep another child, whose parents might feel is an appropriate book for their child, from having access to that book,” Barber said. “It’s not just parents. It’s any citizen.”

Guno. There is nothing acceptable to society to you being a sperm burping, ass fucked little faggot. Real families realize that. Die from AIDS you fucking fake.

Anyone remember National Geographic magazines? :)

I tried to donate my years'-worth of NatGeo magazines to our local school in the rural area where we lived, in the early 2000s. I was told that "they are too advanced for our students." I'm glad that my parents didn't think that they were "too advanced" for us kids.

They truly were. Books -- and magazines and newspapers -- were almost always never published unless they were vetted for factuality and truth. Now kids and their dullard parents have the Internet and shit like Fox and OAN and the other crazy networks. Nothing is vetted. If you want to do "research" for an assigned paper you can easily find simpatico blogs and other shit to support your premise.

And stories of people who live somewhere other than rural America, who aren't white, who don't live in American style trailers or regular houses, who live in vibrant exciting cities filled with other not-white ppl, who speak beautiful languages that aren't English, who live in amazing exotic places. Nope, don't want our dullard future factory worker kids to learn about THAT stuff. They might get ideas.
